Unfortunately, because we'd put in the X-trend faucet and accompanying soap dispenser about 2 or 3 years before we did hte remodel and therefore had to disconnect the two, the dispenser never did work that well when reinstalled after having been disconnected for the 4 or 6 months it was disconnected during the remodel. I loved the long spout and so put up with the somewhat hesitant performance until it became quite dysfunctional.

You can surely find the pictures online but I thought I'd link to my pictures so that you can see the comparison in scale between them. I'm not sure but I think hte reach of the Xtrend one was 5.5 inches (from the center of the pillar) while that of the KWC is 3.5 inches from the center of its disposer pillar - I just measured.

Rohl and Perrin & Rowe make 3.5 and 4 inch long spout soap dispensers - check the Rohl website.

*Excellent*, mindstorm & mnhockeymom! 4" would be perfect. That first one you posted was truly beyond category, though, mindstorm! The one that is sold with our new faucet (Kohler Simplice) is just the same length as the one I already have, and looked prety much the same (finish color a bit different, though) so I didn't get a new one--I actually think it's the same dimensions as your new one (3.5" from center of pillar). But an extra half inch would make a lot of functional difference, so I'll just take whatever the best form match is I can find if I can get the 4" (if I can't find the first one you linked to, mindstorm). Thanks so much!

This was a consideration when we purchased our Moen (Aberdeen) dispenser. I was told by a kitchen showroom saleslady to find one with a spout reach of no less than 3". Also, she recommended we get a dispenser with a pump top (the part that you press to pump the soap), because she found the smaller it is, people tend to press on the spout instead of the pump top and break the unit before long. It really does make a difference if the pump head is larger. I tested them myself. We listened to her and are happy with our purchase. If ours was any longer (it's 3"), I'd constantly be moving the spout to the side which would bug me. Where it's placed is perfect as the spout reaches far enough into the sink, yet doesn't get in my way when washing the larger items by hand.

Mine measures about 4-1/2" from center of the stem to center of the spout end. I love the fact that is comes out far enough that you can get your hand, a sponge or whatever under it. We bought 2 and they've been great.

Interesting, debi. I had never given it much thought...although there is a blanco dispenser on the bar sink in our house that *barely* makes 3"...but it's mounted closer to the basin, so it doesn't need to reach as far. Can't imagine pressing on the spout instead of the top, though...but cool that you had a salesperson who had some serious, considered advice on such a tiny topic!

lascatx, that site had lots of soap dispensers but not many of them post the length...4.5" sounds great...

I've seen long-necked (or long spouted) ones in office-building bathrooms, so you might look at a janitorial supply website.

Ah, thanks, talley sue--you know, I did that, but the only ones I could find were in chrome. I need satin nickel or stainless...I'll check some more.

I have the one I linked above in both chrome and brushed nickel and like both finishes. I saw that one on ebay after I ordered mine for less than I paid for it. Wouldn't hurt to look.
