Glass windows with dual panes would work. But I wouldn't use anything except vinyl windows because of the moisture factor inside the GH. When you say plastic I assume you are referring to the polycarbonate panels that many greenhouses are made with. It is plastic, but is stronger than glass and it comes in multiple insulating layers, double, triple and more. It has an inside side and an outside side. The outside side has the UV protection on it, and it lasts for 10-15 years. Glass on the other hand is a bit more fragile than PC but will last indefinitely. So from that aspect the replacement windows would be a good bet for the sides of your GH. Cheryl

I've found great deals online at Elite Appliance: www.eliteappliance.com They also just happen to have a showroom in Dallas that I was able to visit. So far so good on customer service, even though we haven't bought anything yet, I'm receiving multiple quotes on the kinds of items we are in the market for. The particular rep who was helping us asked us all the right questions, heard my questions and concerns, explained brands I wasn't familiar with, and tried to steer me in a general right direction for our wants and needs. Plus they offer all brands from high-end to not so and all the prices seem to be as reasonable as I can find. The showroom also had floor models and open box deals that were discounted even more. You may have to pay to get them hauled off. They use the old refrigerant that is no longer manufactured, and SEVERELY regulated by the EPA. (So it would need retrofitting to the new refrigerant with new $$ parts if you had to do any repair to the sealed system.) Last I checked, it was over $300 per pound if you had to buy R30 for a recharge, and special certified equipment is needed to remove it from the fridge in order to legally dispose of it. City refuse departments won't haul any refrigerator off if you sit it to the curb, and they'll haul off anything around here--- but tires and fridges. Anyone who even thought about buying them would want them for free (and would need a refrigeration license to even tinker with them) if they knew all of that, and I'd expect most people would internet research a Craig's list posting first.

Yes, you can arrange the top shelf to be low and hold tall items like milk. And in my house, the loose egg WILL get behind there. Or the jelly or an old yogurt. I'm not proud of it but that's the way it is. Do lots of embarrassing reaching and grabbing with the taller appliances in a store. (The SZ built ins I looked at were alright, their integrated ones were less short-friendly, and the Thermador/Miele/Gaggenau/Bosch columns were bad.) I ended up doing cabinets for the KA KFC 36" something--the tallest counter depth available at the time. I just never got around to purchasing it and then I moved and two kitchens later still have the fridge that came with my old house. I totally admit that it was hard for me to justify paying Sub Zero prices for a stupid fridge, especially since the only one I liked wasn't the sleek integrated model (which almost looks good enough to justify the price). It was entirely within budget, but not within the common sense limits I was born with. (Now if I'd found a good deal like you...hmmmm....)
