Have you paid the granite guy yet? I'd withhold payment until he fixes the problem. Unfortunately, unless I'm mistaken, the only way to fix the problem is with a new piece of granite - but that's his problem not yours.

Looks like granite guy will be bringing you a new piece of granite with the hole drilled in the RIGHT PLACE. He screwed up, he fixes the problem, not you.

This happened to me too. I gave the guy a detailed drawing, showing the set-back to the CENTER of the whole. I verbally told it it was to the CENTER. He measured to the front edge of the hole.

He fixed the main hole for the faucet by epoxying the scrap of granite back into the hole and redrilling it. The bezel of the faucet covered the repair. I didn't make him fix the others (some of which didn't have enough bezel to cover). I now regret not making him fix the hot water dispenser because it is quite close to the edge of the sink (too far back).

Maybe this will work for you.

Also, I picked a faucet where the handle only comes forward (Hans Grohe Cittereo ADA pull-down). I have a very deep sink, which cause this problem (KWC Matterhorn).

If you really like your granite slab and/or had a hard time finding one so do not want to begin the search again, check to see if the handle of the faucet of your choice can be mounted in the front of the faucet. Some people here have done this with the at least one, the Kohler Vinnata. Niineta, , Mary_228, and GardenerGwen have done this w/the Vinnata. (A picture of GardenerGwen's is in the linked thread)

I forgot to add that there is an advantage to mounting the handle in front of the faucet--it is accessible to both hands. With a side mount, if you need to control the water from the hand opposite the mount, you have to reach around the faucet to get to the handle. With the front mount it's right there.

1. That happened to me with the bar sink except, the hole was too close to the sink rather than too far. Considered the trouble of selecting these slabs, the only 2 of the same color that matched well, I didn't want to change the granite. Instead, I've asked for a discount instead. I went ahead and bought another faucet. Turned out this 2nd faucet worked even better with the small bar sink and I love it.

2. However, if the faucet is mountable, I'm wih Buehl, my kitchen faucet is mounted with the handle in the front. I couldn't believe how convenient it has been. I can use either hand to turn it on and off. I would never go back to have it on the side.

You should try to mount it, just don't tighten it completely, and use it for a couple of days to see how you like it before going through the headache of asking the GC to change it out.

As others have said, ask for a discount and look for another faucet you like. You may want to look at the Blanco Rado with a single hole and pull down spray. I love it on my counter. Even though the lever is on the side, it doesn't need any clearance to the backsplash.

Here's my faucet with the handle in the front. There was room on the side but I preferred it it front. Not sure if this is an option for you.

I'm in the camp who suggests a new faucet. I have the Grohe Ladylux Cafe and opted to have the handle front-mounted instead of on the side.
