Volga blue granite still can't decide on flooring and backsplash.
Comments (2)Well, I too have a seriously gorgeous granite going into our guest bath (labradorite blue - it's a remnant I found at a fabricator : )), and I've had a devil of a time finding anything to go above it. Mostly I've decided I want an etched glass, with as few groutlines as possible (may do a big piece of etched glass from a glass fabricator) so as not to have anything reflecting into the granite. Pics I see online of your volga blue with various backsplashes show that the differences in color really reflect back onto the granite, looking a bit spotty to me. So I'd suggest looking into a plate glass, if possible. Simple, modern, non-competing....See MoreDoes anyone have Volga blue granite?
Comments (6)Your first post is still on page 1! Have you checked the Finished Kitchens Blog (FKB)? As mentioned in the "Read Me" thread, the FKB has pictures of finished kitchens. There is also an "FKB Categories" link on the right navigation panel that will take you to a page that lists things like cabinets (by manufacturer, color, style, etc.), countertop (by type and name), special features, etc. In the case of your question, there is a link for "Volga Blue". Click on it and will list all the kitchens in the FKB that have Volga Blue granite. As to posting pictures, that information is also in the "Read Me" thread. A friendly request: In the future, please bump the current thread rather than starting another one if it's the same question. Unlike most other forums, this Forum moves so quickly that we have a limited number of threads that we can keep active (approx 4 - 6 weeks worth). So, every new thread knocks off a fairly recent one. Comments (10)I havenÂt had a chance to get online and check recent posts but do really enjoy them when I do. I havenÂt actually posted much myself, but appreciate the great advice I read from others! I presume youÂve made your choice but wanted to chime in that I donÂt think you could go wrong with using all of one of the two granites but probably wouldnÂt suggest using both in the very same room. Ironically, we just gutted our kitchen and ripped out Blue Pearl that I had (and thoroughly loved  never tired of it) for 15 years. We are putting in a whole new kitchen and going with Volga Blue this time to change it up a bit. I was steered that direction partly because we are not removing the Blue Pearl slab on our fireplace in the family room/great room right across from the kitchen. Because they will be several feet apart from each other but in eyeshot of one another, I did want something that would mesh well with the Blue Pearl. IÂll be using different granites in our two bathrooms and possibly the laundry room (if we arenÂt able to re-use a salvaged piece of our Blue Pearl). I agree that the answer could be improved lighting. For me, the gorgeous part of Volga Blue are the awesome pops of blue that are totally visible with lighting above. A few simple can lights in your vault above could be terrific. WeÂre doing that and under cabinet lighting and I made it a point to pick slabs with the most blue action I could find. Best of luck  looking forward to pictures!...See More2 color granites/ super white and volga blue?
Comments (3)If I'm reading it all correctly, it feels like your kitchen will be very dark and cold. I would worry about the blue in the volga b/c it is electric blue in all of the slabs I've seen. It's gorgeous, but, if you don't have any blue anywhere...might be something to think about b/c that blue will flash everywhere. Get samples of everything and put them together....take some pictures and then work on deciding....See Morekarin_mt
