touch activated faucets

Has anyone had experience with touch activated kitchen faucets? Are they as useful as they seem? Do they activate quickly? Are the electronics robust? Does the touch work through cloth? Would you buy it again?

I have the Moen Touch2o faucet. It is convenient when my hands are full or dirty. Yes, it does activate quickly. Never tried to activate it through cloth. But it will activate through rubber kitchen gloves. Sometimes it turns on when cleaning the counter at the base because the whole spout (exept for the pull-out spray)and handle can activate the faucet. I do like that it has a 4 min auto shut-off feature.

Moen makes a touch faucet? I thought it was only Delta and Brizo so far. Do you have a photo hmds? Which model has this?

I've had a TM and liked it so I'm biased in favor of something I know works. I haven't tried the others so they frighten me. :) Mechanically the TM is simple. There's not much to fail and if it does fail, you can probably figure out what it is. No electronics. You can use the TM with any faucet, pretty ones or modern ones or ugly ones or cheap ones you pick up on the curb. So for appearances, it's a lot easier to find something that matches your kitchen if you can purchase the faucet separately from the mechanism. I'd be worried that a motion detecting faucet would be as annoying as the ones in public restrooms and that with all the odd motions that go on under a kitchen faucet, it might not read my mind correctly. I'm probably totally wrong on this and will follow this thread to see how these newer devices are working out in kitchens.

I have and love my Moen Motionsense Arbor. Reusing it in my under construction kitchen and getting another for my second sink. I have read the thread with other people's problems but have experienced non if it. The front sensor is great but it does take a little getting used to to avoid getting wet by mistake. And it sometimes gets guests. But it could be turned off for parties. But is my favorite part daily. The only time mine has come on by mistake is I think twice a lot of hot steaming pasta water triggered it. I have had the handle come loose and was sent replacement parts for that for no charge. I did get the adapter to plug in vs use batteries. I'll be curious to see if there are any issues in my new location - it will now be in a very bright sunny spot. I wonder if something in the light around it is why dorm people have had problems? Or if there are problems with the newer ones? Mine is from 2012.

None of these scare stories have happened to me. I’ve had mine for almost 2 years. I leave it set on medium hot. If you need to adjust the temp, you can always at least clean your hands first, then move the lever to change temp. I pretty much only need to change it if I want cold water for coffee pot, etc, in which case my hands aren’t dirty! Ours has never turned itself on. I can’t understand why so many people who have never tried one are so negative. If you cook, you get dirty hands and it’s a great feature. It is very simple to use manually if you prefer. It turns itself off automatically after a few minutes, so no risk of it overflowing or something.

I would purchase a tap master with the faucet of my choice instead. Do a search for tap master on this forum. It will not restrict you to a particular faucet only. I am purchasing one of the units myself.

Yes, but the tapmaster alone is more than the touch faucet and then you need to buy a faucet, too. So if you're on a tight budgetÂ

hmds if the search function here is working, you can do a search on "Pilar" and you'll find several threads, if they haven't been lost.

They have had problems with the early units. I'd pass or at least get a model manuf. in 2010.

My Delta Pilar touch faucet is on order. I figure if I have problems there is always warranty. Can't wait.
