Comments (11)That's a beautiful stone, and your cabs are equally as visually pleasing. I think they'll make a nice pairing. As to the cost, it's really your decision. I can say that I overspent in my kitchen for my neighborhood for both appliances and counters. I live in modest neighborhood where most kitchens are still the original late 60's-early 70's, with some having gotten new laminate or painted their dark cabs lighter over the years. This is my forever house. I cook every meal, every day. I really enjoy cooking, baking, and experimenting with new foods. For me, all of that added up to buying the best cooking equipment (appliances) I could afford with the features I want for better function. For form, I opted for expensive Carrara counters. They are stunning, IMHO. Everyday I love to stare and them and run my hands over them. Breaking the cost down over 30+ years makes it totally worth it to me. I'd do exactly the same thing again if given the chance. HTH!...See MoreCream cabinets, copper and walnut counters - Thanks GW!
Comments (45)Vermonter_2009, I love the Sapele Mahogany 5" premium plank floors better than my 5" wide Brazilian Cherry on my monitor. I also love the copper counters now that I am looking at the overall kitchen. You truly have a gorgeous kitchen that is not only beautiful but set up so well to cook in. Thank you for sharing. I am truly thinking with my Brazilian Cherry floors now downstairs, I want to go with white kitchen cabinets to keep the kitchen bright and happy. I have not chosen the kitchen floors yet but due to the sliding door that goes out to the back yard that my little dogs go in and out of, I was leaning towards tile but now I am having second doubts and wonder if wood would be nice to match the other room if I put a small carpet in front of the door and sink....See MoreHelp me choose hardwood flooring to match cabinets
Comments (13)Soony, As you look in the picture, you will see glass block running all along the back counter area. That is to the outside, allowing bright sun to shine through during the day. If you have a wall that you could actually do that with, and you will have to contact the builder and show him that picture, then I would say that wouldn't be too dark at all. But, if you aren't willing to put the extra money out to have all that glass block installed, (and if you look closely, the glass runs all the length of the room actually, and then glass door at the end of the room also, probably allows additional light in), then I would think twice about the black on black for your kitchen in that picture....See MoreWhat needs to match/how do you do it - counter, walls, cabinets?
Comments (13)This is a pic of the door to my dining room, which is the wood all throughout the house. I can never get good shots of this wood. It looks a little yellower here than it really is. I know "birch" isn't quite right, but it's my non-KD shorthand for lighter wood. The cabinets will be on the opposite wall from the door, so we may be able to make them just a tad lighter in color....See Morecat_mom
