Pics of backsplash with soapstone counters...NOT white subways
Comments (6)My husband had the same response -- that's why I used bigger subs (4x8) and trimmed with glass mosaics. Below is a link to a previous thread -- I have pictures posted there. Also, if you click on "my page" next to my name, and then "my clippings" and scroll all the way down, you will see some more examples of BS with SS. Make sure you look at the LAST picture. I love that marble BS with the SS! Here is a link that might be useful: thread with more pictures...See MoreSoapstone counter with marble subway tile backsplash
Comments (7)rmkitchen is referring to me. I am in the process of building a new home and will be using black minas soapstone on the perimeter counters and white statuario marble on my center island. My perimeter cabinets will be white inset shaker style and my island is dark stained alder to resemble walnut. My floors will be 6" walnut planks. I am still up in the air as to what to do for a backsplash so I can't help you there. I want to live in the house for a little while before I decide what to do for there. I am considering mini-brick soapstone to match the counter, stainless steel mini-brick and/or marble of some sort. The kitchen should mostly be done by the end of the month. Hopefully I'll have some pictures from my contractor since I live in NY right now and my new house is in Colorado! Sorry I'm not much help but I think the backsplash is a place one can make a statement and I'm not yet sure what I want mine to say :)...See Morenon Subway backsplash--ideas?
Comments (21)Sorry I've been MIA. The holidays came, then planning a child's birthday party, and then a family vacation all have had me away from the kitchen and the computer. Working hard on choosing a backsplash now. ck_squared and annalyn123- Very pretty back splashes! but DH says no glass. We both have veto power if there is something that we don't really want. SInce we have very different tastes, it has made for an interesting decision making process :) And annalyn, I've vetoed the natural stone, while it looks lovely with our counter I worry about maintenance issues. Keeping up with the dusting of the white cabinets is enough for me right now! kksmama- These are good points to consider. The backsplash area is quite small so I think something a little special all over may be in order. I like the look of a hand painted tile that has some variation so it looks "watery" or like the tiles may be different. Worried about second guessing my decision leads to making no decisions for me. Thanks beachpea3- Glasstile is too contemporary for DH, beadboard (my first choice, thought probably too plain for the space) is too country for him. Good luck to you too. EAM44- You're right, those are pretty, but not what we are looking for. Budget is pretty flexible since we need such a small amount of tile. No pictures while I'm working but I know I should post one tonight to get more input. Barthelemy- Those are quieter, where are they from? And I never heard of zelliges, learn something new all the time on this site! Pricklypearcactus- I think I'd like something other than a subway, will search for herringbone patterns. Thank you....See MoreBacksplash Suggestions To Go With Soapstone Counters
Comments (29)I’m currently remodeling my kitchen, going with Black Venata soapstone with a 4” matching backsplash. The walls are just painted in a semi gloss - which worked fine with the old Formica counters too. . My house is older (1918) but really lacking in architectural detail, so I’m trying to keep it very simple. But my vote in your case would be to go for the bead board. It sounds like it would be both beautiful and historically appropriate. I guess my advice would be to bear in mind that you may decide to oil your soapstone - or you may not. If you elect to go with tile it should look good with the untreated gray, the color of the veins, and the oiled soapstone as well....See MoreUser
