Has anyone used Showplace cabinets? Opinions?
Comments (71)Quite possibly the WORST company I have ever dealt with. You would be better off purchasing your cabinets from Home Depot - you will get better customer service, warranty, and quality. Showplace cabinetry is of inferior quality and the "Lifetime Warranty" is useless. If you decide to purchase from this company do yourself a favor and take video while your cabinets are removed from packaging and document everything. NOT that this will help you in the end because Showplace will blame the installer and you for using the wrong cleaning products (BTW -the only thing I ever used to clean my cabinets is a damp microfiber cloth). In response to our warranty addressing the inconsistent spray and overall fogginess of our black painted cabinets, the Showplace rep Cheryl Eisenman responded "Worn paint, what have they been using to clean this? Her first response is to blame the client instead of getting to the root cause of their own crappy product. You think they would be concerned if this is the final result they are actually sending to the client. The only representative from Showplace I have been able to actually speak to was the local rep Jason Heiner, he actually came to our home to view the issues for himself. Jason acknowledged the majority of the issues our dealer/installer brought to the attention of the warranty department. I had hoped that since their own rep witnessed the problems it would be resolved. In the end, the majority of our claim was denied. I contacted Jason and he reached out to the head of Customer Relations Kerry Hayes and indicated I would be receiving a phone call from her. Weeks later, no phone call, I contacted Jason again. Here is his texted response....."Showplace has made the decision and passed it on to your dealer and it is now between YOU and the DEALER. Showplace communicates only with their dealer base only. Please reach out to him going forward." All I can say to that is WOW! So basically, screw you. You are at the mercy of the dealer. Our dealer failed to submit our claim within their 1-year policy. How is this the client’s fault?? Are their "specially trained" DEALERS not an extension of their company?? They do NOT stand behind their product or the dealers that they choose to do business with. Our cabinets were delivered in March of 2021 and we here we are 2 years later and none of our warranty items have been replaced. The one item that was sent was of no better quality than the original product. The pictures speak for themselves. WORST experience ever, appalling BAD customer experience....See MoreHas anyone used "Neolith" for countertops (or been tempted to)?
Comments (176)Hi Everyone - we just had our Neolith Calcacutta counters in silk finish installed in our kitchen. I DO NOT recommend going with this product unless you are okay with a number of downsides. We utilized a certified Neolith fabricator who has lot of experience in working with this material. We did the mitered edges so that they were not white as well. Not only was this by far the most expensive product, but it was disappointing as well. You can see the white edges where it was mitered and there are defects from the moment of installation from which I was told are "normal" and acceptable. My seams (only two, that is nice) are VERY obvious and not what I would have expected. The material itself marks up when ANYTHING touches it basically. Put a cookie sheet on it and you have horrible black / gray marks everywhere that do not come out. I have been told you have to be willing to scrub it for that to happen and they recommended using acetone to get them out. Um....so now i am left with counters that cost me over $13k that I am not happy with from how they look (they look great from afar) and that mark up when anything touches it and I have to use a special something to try and get them out and that is not easy. If I could do it again, I would go with quartz or quartzite. These are not worth the pain and suffering along with the high cost and disappointing outcome. I went to some friend's house over the weekend where they had their new quartz counters installed, by the same fabricators we used and they look far superior to ours and they do not have the same issues. I read the reviews on here and chose it anyway and am devastated I did. I wish I had taken these reviews to heart and not listened to the fabricator's comments that these were one off experiences....See MoreDalTile 'ProAdvanced Protection System' -- worth it?
Comments (17)To all: I am with Protect Plus Surfaces. We are partnered with Daltile to assist and underwrite the warranty with this program, as well as the exclusive DuPont Licensee for sealed stone products. The kit includes 3 items: a 1/2 gal of exclusive sealer and 2 current DuPont StoneTech products that are very successful in the marketplace, and for good reason - they work very well. The sealer is water based and does include Microban - but not Triclosan. Microban has several different antimicrobials available to them based on the product they are going to protect. Due to public concerns with triclosan, this product was not used. The antimicrobial in the sealer is 100% natural. It is actually the same form of antimicrobial used in DuPont Water Filtration products. These have undergone rigorous tests following NSF guidelines by the Water Quality Association (WQA) to prove that water is safe to drink after passing through the filtration device. That is how safe the Microban in the sealer is. The other 2 products are the DuPont StoneTech Revitalizer Cleaner and Protector and the DuPont StoneTech Polish. We are the warranty underwriter of the program and handle the customer service for all warranty claims. Rest assured, this is the strongest warranty available in the market today. There are not loopholes and exclusions in the warranty that are commonplace in the market today. This program was put together to truly protect your important purchase for the full 15 years. Here are a few differentiating items about the program: 1) The warranty includes all granite and marble - yes it covers marble. But it does not cover etching on the marble. This is nearly impossible to do with a penetrating sealer that doesn't alter the look or feel of the marble. Many consumers are now choosing a finish other than polished, which makes etching much more difficult to see. 2) The warranty needs to be applied only 1 time - and the warranty lasts for 15 years 3) There are no specific care guidelines that must be followed to make sure the warranty is in effect 4) The warranty is fully transferable for the full 15 years - your home could sell 15 times and it will still be valid 5) The warranty covers the full cost of replacement product if a stain cannot be removed 6) If a replacement is required, we cover the costs of the labor as well - no other warranty in the industry covers this! 7) All chemicals are from DuPont - the most effective and safest natural stone sealers on that market today 8) Microban antimicrobial technology truly does work for the entire length of the warranty - and we chose a natural ingredient for your safety. Imagine raw chicken on your countertop - microbes double every 20 minutes and you don't want to see that spot under a microscopre after 24 hours. Microban inhibits this growth and after 24 hours you can hardly tell it was there. Here is more information about it. http://www.microban.com/partnersites/proadvanced 9) Daltile does have this program on their website at www.daltilestone.com/proadvanced This program has been rolled out specifically to Daltile's Stone Centers located all over the country. The program has just been announced to the entire Daltile sales team and is gaining momentum all over the country now. Comments (12)All any warrant is is a measure of the confidence of the manufacturer has in their products. Hardly anyone ever receives satisfaction from a flooring warranty, or a furniture warranty either, but the fact that a manufacturer is willing to stand behind their products for that long is a testament to how confident they are that they have a good product. You have to balance that out with the actual longevity of the company so far. If Kraftmaid offers you a lifetime warranty, you can bet that they will be in business 15 years from now to fulfill that warranty. If JoeDon's Cabinet Shop has only been in business 3 years, then you've got far less chance of receiving any warranty service 3 years from now, much less 15 years from now. Even though JoeDon may have a beautiful product, statistically, Kraftmaid is a better bet. However, you may pay for for that surety with Kraftmaid. And, the only things that are covered by a warranty are manufacturer's defects. Most of those will be apparent in the first 6 months of usage, not years down the road. And the reason that you have issues down the road is usually due to normal wear and tear or abuse, not a manufacturer's defect. An example would be a corner base cabinet with the 2 hinged doors. If you aren't careful closing the door, you can scratch the adjacent door on the handle side. And if you lean on the door a bit while you are trying to find something in the interior and over time the hinges start to come lose, that's abuse in both cases and wouldn't fall under any warranty coverage....See MoreClearstone
