Comments (16)I have measured what I need to store, the problem is that there are a lot of different heights. I have lots of little things that would be best in shallow drawers (I need at least 2 shallow drawers), a lot of 5-8" tall bottles and tubes, and a smaller amount of 8-12" tall items. We do not store any cleaning products in the bathroom -- those go on an upper shelf in the hall closet, where our little ones cannot reach them. If we go with doors under the sinks, they will have a pullout at the bottom, along with a shelf or another pullout part way up the cabinet. Comments (8)I was wondering about this myself. I also have an island where there are 3 fake panels and one working cabinet door. I think it's going to look strange to have just one pull on that cabinet, but I also don't want people to bang themselves on the handles or try and pull on them as mentioned above. My DH is a function over form kinda guy and I am definitely a form over function kind of gal...have a feeling there will be pulls just for symmetry. I also am weird about seeing things symmetrical!...See MoreDrawer under sink base
Comments (14)Hi judydel, I don't think your idea is a bad one at all-- several people over at Ikeafans have put a 6" deep (top to bottom) drawer in the bottom of a sink cabinet, and then the plumbing goes in the space between the top of the drawer and the bottom of the sink. It should be especially possible if you don't have a super-deep sink, nor a disposal. I think the only issue might esthetics-- but personally I think it would look fine and would be very functional. At my prep sink, I was able to carefully plan with the GC and plumber to put in a trash pullout and a recycling pullout. In a 30" cabinet I have a 23x16x10 sink, two 8-gallon trash can pullouts, a compact disposal with air switch, and a never MT. Having the pullouts under sink is wonderful-- one of my favorite features in my new kitchen, and such a great use of space. My only word of caution is that if you are trying to plumb in a DW as well that might make the set-up tricky, but you might be able to work it out with the plumber. All this is a lot easier to do if you have frameless cabs, but I think it may be possible with framed cabs. I say go for it! Make that sink base work for you! Comments (1)Hi Deedles. The k.d. wasn't able to pull off putting drawers there. I think he could have made it happen but he just wasn't motivated. I didn't do a reveal yet because I wanted the kitchen to be painted first. The painter painted last week but my bs is scheduled to be installed on the 25th so I will wait til then to do a final reveal. The biggest thing I would change is the k.d. he just wasn't as creative or motivated with this project as he was when he did our library many years ago. With that being said I love my new kitchen and there isn't much I would change in it....See Morecardinal94
