I like the concept and the design is uncomplicated... it works!

I'm a sucker for vintage.

Layout wise, I immediately see two issues.

First, where will you actually prep? Your placement of the pantry between the sink and range has eliminated prime prep space. Do you have experience prepping (not rolling out dough--chopping and slicing) at table height? Can your back handle it?

Second, the DW against the vintage sink may look odd and create installation issues. It's not impossible, but you are essentially installing a DW at the end of a run since there is no supporting neighboring cabinet, so special considerations need to be made. If at all possible I'd panel that DW in that location, given your sink.

I like the two-depth uppers but be aware that the effect will be very different if those don't have glass doors.

I am all about vintage and neutral, so I like your design and choices.

A few comments:
1 Is the window over the sink accurately depicted in the software? If possible, I think a larger window would be more in proportion with your grand sink.
2 Your sink photo has nice cabs with a peek-a-boo curtain; are you thinking of doing that? It would look nice
3 I chose and then rejected very similar hardware, i didn't like the feel of using that tab to open drawers
4 I dislike islands too, and to me they never feel vintage. Can you do a small worktable somewhere? It is hard to prep at a table without sitting, imho
5. What kind of fridge are you using given the panelling I see? Also, if you want an icebox look, you may not want a cab over the top.
6 Love shiplap. Its the new beadboard imho
7.ONe shot shows a haint blue wood ceiling -- that looks great
8 Not sure I like something as fussy as the Victorain screen door. Might prefer an old chippy screen door

Marcolo - re: prep space, I imagined myself prepping mostly around the sink. There is 40" of space on either side of the sink, and 18" of drainboard on both sides of the sink. I'll also have those pull out bread boards for extra space if needed (have them now, use them often). On the stove wall there is 34" of space on either side of the stove. I don't intend to do a lot of prepping at the table, just that it could be used to as a landing space. Sorry if I overstated the extent to which I imagined prepping there. Currently I have two 24" spaces that are not consumed by the MW, coffee maker, bread box etc, so the proposed counter space felt huge to me :) Do you think it is insufficient?

The pantry in that corner does interrupt the space a bit. However, it seems so appealing to use that corner space in that way. The house juts out a bit there and allows for a comfortable walk-in space that allows us to maximize storage space. Unless it's really problematic, I hope to keep it :)

We will panel the DW, for sure. Going with an entry level Miele (not drawers as pictured...apologies that my drawings aren't 100% accurate). I'm clueless about cabinet support issues (and now a little worried!), but I see that Arlosmom and others have successfully installed a dw adjacent to a huge sink, so I'm optimistic we can figure out a way.

"Two-depth uppers" - thank you for finding the language to describe that!! I've really struggled with what that's supposed to be called.

Mtnrdredux - I've been watching your kitchen take shape for months, and it's one that I've returned to in the course of refining my ideas. When you first posted the preview shot of your subzero being paneled with icebox hardware, I immediately showed DH, because he was skeptical that it could be done, and that it could be done well. Your entire kitchen is beautiful.

1. The window above the sink. Originally I *really* wanted no uppers, and a great wall of windows instead. But, I finally conceded that you can't put a square peg in a round hole. That side of the house faces a neighbor, and our sink location looks right into their kitchen. So, I think the actual window will be even smaller than the one in the mock up. I plan to have a double hung, but put a bahama shutter on the outside of the house, but at the mid-point of the window; the lower half will block the view of the neighbor's kitchen, and the upper half will reveal sky (the neighbor is downhill a little).
On the layout drawing, where the family room is labeled, that entire back wall will be floor-to-ceiling windows, letting in a lot of natural light. Do you think I should re-think the window in the kitchen?

2. The sink pic is from Arlosmom's kitchen. Her curtains look great - and I suspect mine would be often wet & stained, so no curtains for me. Arlosmom's old threads have been very helpful; I'm planning to do a similar curved/fitted cabinet under my sink, with garbage under one of the drainboard sides.

3. The hardware. Those tab pulls don't feel good in my hand either. I'm going with PB pulls which use a handle instead of a tab or bin pull; and I'm drawn to the design b/c the "label" piece slides onto the back of the screws in the handle. If I want to take off the label portion, I can :) I really liked the clever use of colored map clippings on that desk, and wanted to do something similar but not have to commit to permanently attaching label hardware to the drawer.

4. No island, what about a small work table? Ya, I like this idea. DH not so much. So, we're going to start with the farm table fully in the kitchen and see how it goes. Down the road, we can add a small work table to abut the end of the farm table, or even add a large island and re-orient the table so that it runs perpendicular to the stairs.

5. Fridge. I'm planning on a Thermador 36" bottom freezer, single door top with stained paneling and icebox hardware. I'd like the cab above the fridge to be painted creamy white, as a continuation of the adjacent top upper cabs, like this inspiration pic (btw I am so smitten with this kitchen - I want to cut & paste my face right in there :) :

6. Thanks for the thumbs up on shiplap. I love it too, but I'm realizing I like it in small doses, so the pantry might be a good place.

7. The blue paint...I like that too. Not sure if we'll do that. The pic was to show the kind of lighting for over the farm table.

8. Thank you for saying that the Victorian screen looks too fussy. My gut says that too; I think I've enjoyed seeing other people's pantries in this style. But you're right....I don't care for ornate objects, so a more humble look would work better.

I'd tweak the sink wall mockup: the bookcase end doesn't look right facing out..make it aligned with everything else..as well, move it left within 3-4 inches of the doorway there and you'll get a larger base drawer to the left of dishwasher. The wall dish cabs left and rt of window would be better larger, what is it, 36 or 42 in? they have those-far better...Above window I'd do a break in the decorative stacked cab theme-put a chunky rod with rings and get a fabric valance-installed fairly high up-it will make the window look bigger, add a softness with fabric and end the monotony of those uppers. An alternative to all the stacked little upper cabs is taller cabs-right to the ceiling with molding, guess you've ruled that out.Do you truly need that large of a sink-it dominates your design: seems slightly smaller would still be plenty big.Your kitchen's open vibe is appealing-be careful-everything is in view.You'll want good materials-figure the cost of all those little cabs as opposed to fewer big cabs 42 in high with better stylistic and stain/finish options....question of where the funds go..

Your diagram shows your table where an island would normally be. However, you've left out the chairs! You're not going to want chairs backing up to your range and sink unless you have plenty of room around them. This is something you should measure and check before getting the table.

I am not sure I entirely get the icebox front with the painted faux door panel side on the fridge cab. I think it can work to either wrap the wood entirely around the icebox as if it's a freestanding piece, or just use a stained icebox door in a white enclosure. But those faux doors bother me--the fridge is either supposed to be an icebox, or supposed to be fake cabinets, not both.

Herbflavor - I agree that the bookcase needs tweaking and the left side of dw drawers need to be bigger to be functional. I liked the bookcase facing the living room, to give some kind of transition point from family room to kitchen. Also, I'm considering having a small desk on the other side of the bookcase. I'll have to work out all of these kinks before I have the optimal design, eh?

One thing I love about this site being exposed to different perspectives. Herbflavor you find the uppers monotonous and suggest removing the section above the sink in favor of a valance. I find the uppers over the sink cozy & comforting, and it's the look I'm really drawn too. Also, I wish I could have a smaller sink, and was originally looking at the one-sided drainboard sink, but the basin was just too small. I really want an apron front, built in backsplash, with drainboard, and this is the only sink on the market that has those features...so I kind of have to live with the size.

I hear ya about the expense. Not the cheapest option, for sure. But, I'm willing to spend in the kitchen and scrimp elsewhere because I spend most of my time in the kitchen and get a lot of joy from being in a space I love.

Marcolo - ah yes, I have left out those pesky chairs! Still figuring out what to do. Thanks for the reminder to double check my clearances. And thanks for the frank feedback on icebox paneling. I do like to hear opinions that differ from my own. I love old iceboxes, but they are impractical. I personally don't like stainless, and so I was facing trying to coordinate whites between a white sink, white range and possibly a white fridge, along with white cabinets. In addition, I'm wary of white kitchens that I call "blizzards" or "white outs" and imo the stained paneling provides some relief from that. And yes, I'd wrap the wood around the side...hadn't thought about that before, but I think that would be the better choice.
