Comments (13)I would keep the cabinets as is and focus on updating the counter top and the back splash which are dating your kitchen. No gray cabinets. Gray is a "dirty" color, kitchens need to look clean, and it's too trendy, it will date your kitchen very quickly when that trend passes. Remove that pot rack, it is making your kitchen look not clean and messy. Remove those chairs, that island is not big enough to have stools around it. Declutter your counter tops, you have too many functional appliances and nothing attractive to look at. Upgrade your cabinet hardware to knobs and pulls that are bigger, those are too small and boring, they're not adding any impact....See Morewhat colour to paint walls..white/grey kitchen cabinets
Comments (8)You need some warm accents. Right now it is a very “chilly” scheme. Your whites are different…floor is a stark white, your upper cabs are creamier and you're adding another white for the counter. I’d start with a backsplash, blending all the tones, going as warm as possible. For the walls, give a thought to red…specifically B.M. Burnt Russet…a delicious warm red....See MoreClassic Gray vs Shoji White - how to tone down warm kitchen cabinets
Comments (70)cdisimone - I have very similar color cabinets and granite in my kitchen except my backsplash is lighter and floors are very dark porcelain, wood look tile. I've been looking for a color that will work throughout the majority of my house too. After weeks of deliberating, I started with my dining room and painted Shoji White last night. Not sure I like it....it does not look warm or creamy in my house at all. It looks like a very light cool gray. :-( I was going more for a warm white so I can brighten things up but still have the warm, cozy feel. I'm going to give it a few days before continuing on through the rest of my house. My suggestion is to paint an entire wall or much larger sample on your wall before deciding!...See MoreColor & Design, what is the best color for my kitchen cabinets?
Comments (20)I have another related question that is giving me pause. Any input would be greatly appreciated. My ceiling height is 8ft and I had originally planned to go with 36" bottoms, 18" backsplash, and 42" uppers but my new cabinet person doesn't make 42" height cabinets in flats panels, they only make 36" cabinets. Is this a reason for concern? What should I do with the addition 6 inches add backsplash or a time to the top? The new cabinets are white lacquer. Here is a picture of my new cabinet person's product: Although this is not the design of my kitchen, the photo that I found online has 36" cabinets on top and bottom and a big crown molding so I know that it's feasible but my questions is whether it is a mistake for my home that's leaning modern/contemporary....See MoreEEeee
