Wood range hood, then add tile later?

Hi folks,

Have any of you attached tile to a wood hood? Does it stay stuck with the changes in temperature?

Kitchen: Victorian/Queen Anne style

Cabinets: White painted, Woodhaven, simple doors

Windows: Double Hung, painted white, white fluted frames, with rosettes

Counter: Cambria, Bristol Blue (dark navy blue)

Floor: Medium dark 5" Oak

Our dilemma is this... we know that the range hood will be a powerful focal element in the kitchen, but we're not sure what to do there. We think we'd like to do a simple, white, Victorian "chimney" type to the ceiling and then add tile trim (maybe even a mosaic)around the lower edge and possibly the backsplash. The kitchen will have a completely different look than today with a lot of contrast between cabs and counter, and brighter with more windows. We'd kind of like to wait and see what the kitchen needs to tie it all together. Is that practical?

Should we:

- get a simple wood "kit" and add tile onto it later?

- have the cabinet designer "match" the white wood and style of cabs? But if we do that, can we add tile later?

- Go with another hood material to aid in the tile installation?

- Forget the tile altogether?

Any thoughts are appreciated!

-Dave
