Thanks everyone...I do love it-it is exactly how I had envisioned and hoped it would turn out. The hutch is where we had our chimney removed-that was something my husband wasn't happy about but I really wanted to have a hutch since we don't have a formal dining room. The speckles on the countertops are the recycled material in the quartz. I've never had pot lights or under counter lights and they are ALL on dimmers-I read that on here and did it-including the bathroom!

Our kitchen was 28 years old and I told my husband we either move or renovate...he didn't want to do either. I waited until both our kids were grown up so I could have a grown up kitchen. Now comes the even harder part-furniture shopping!

That turned out so nice! I just love the dark wood and light counters.

Yes, that wasted wall bump out had been the chimney until I found out from a neighbour it could be removed! That was the start of it all and the end of my husband's hair! haha..

I'm so glad everyone likes the dark cabinets and light countertops as my son and husband really wanted darker counters. It was so hard to picture in my mind how it would turn out and I'm so happy.

We didn't want a "bar" peninsula just a tiered one that would hide the mess at the sink when we have guests at our table. Plus, it has 2 electrical outlets in it which I love.

It has been so interesting reading this forum for a year before we actually started the renovations. Lots and lots of very good ideas and I thank all of you again.

Your dramatic kitchen is a lovely space. That dark burgundy still takes my breath away every time I see it. I have had that stain for five years now, and it just draws me in every morning when I stumble into the kitchen to start grinding coffee. May you enjoy your kitchen as much as we enjoy ours.

Thanks everyone...I am so enjoying the new space we have with the wall gone...and loving everything. Learning to cook with the new gas oven too-it's a dream, I love the wave touch feature. We splurged on the dishwasher and I'm so pleased it is quiet-our old one was 28 years old and very noisy!

contemporganic & flwrs n co-I do love my quartz relfections-it was my 2nd decision I made after picking out the color of cabinets. It's a breeze to wipe clean and I just love the sparkles when the light shines on it. I still wake up in the morning and think: is this my kitchen?!!
