None with this company. I would recommend paying for a HD\Lowes measure and sitting down with a salesperson before ordering on-line so you have an idea about what you want\need for your space. They won't give you the measured drawing unless you order the cabinets but from the layout you should be able to figure out what is what (bring your own drawing and ask to confirm the measurements with theirs - it isn't about the measure but the advantage of having someone experienced tweak the layout). Advantage seems two fold: you will know what cabinet sizes to order on-line and you will be able to see how much you are or are not saving with an apples to apples comparison.

No experience with this company but you might consider finding a local kitchen shop that carries a line by Prestige Cabinets. I had an estimate for all wood cabinets from Lowe's and the price for these came out at about half theirs. These are all wood as a standard. Some of their standard build items are upcharges with other lines. I just caught a Cherry for the price of Oak sale. With business being slow in general, the designer is coming out today at no charge to do the measure before doing the drawings. I had looked online but was a little spooked at the prospect of problems cropping up. There also seems to be a limited choice of door designs.

Oh boy, nguy...I'll need to paw through some stuff to see if I can answer your question. I did get a quote from Home Depot but then ended up upgrading a few things with BuyCabinets so it wouldn't be an apples to apples comparison. If I can find it, HD did a comparison between Mills Pride and Thomasville (I think) and then I'd be able to compare all three.

Buycabinets just laid off all of its employees, so you may want to go with another source.

Since your new to the forum I'll tell you how much we welcome useful and honest input from people with no agenda and who are looking to just represent the best interest of the masses.

I think ponderosapine is confusing Kraftmaid with Buycabinets.com (which sells Kraftmaid). Masco, the parent company of Kraftmaid, announced on Wed that it was closing a couple of plants and laying off a thousand or so workers. Sign of the times, not of Buycabinets.

However, a Google search of buycabinets.com reveals not good things, including some earlier threads on this site.

I guess try doing research on any company you are planning on using, online or local. This sucky economy takes the bad and good companies.

I almost used Buycabinets.com months ago when I ordered my cabinets (DIY design), and found the sales staff very helpful and friendly, but in the end I became concerned because they only accepted checks. I prefer using a credit card in case something goes wrong, so there is some protection. Finally, I found Lowe's to offer a similar price anyway on my Kraftmaid.

I'm glad to see this post, although I wish more people had responded with real life issues and praise for the site in question. Handy stuff to know, since my company also sells cabinets online...

Measuring for cabinets isn't difficult, so don't be scared to do it yourself. It just takes a while to get all the dimensions. You just want to make sure they're right, especially if something is going to be a tight fit.

Before we order cabinets I try to look for possible tight spots, and have asked customers more than once to verify particular measurements (online) or go out and get them myself (for local customers) I don't want them to scream, and I'm sure they don't want to arrive at the point where'd they'd scream in the first place, when something doesn't fit in the end. No screaming yet... :) I've actually had two kitchens lately where ABSOLUTELY NOTHING went wrong. That hardly ever happens.

Get a Fat Max tape too; you can extend it quite a ways before it folds.

We are experiencing the rath of Buycabinets, we lost $16,000 thru buycabinets, just received letter from Trevor saying so sorry for the inconvience, may have been an inconvience for him but it put us deep in dept to a client we designed the kitchen for, they already paid for cabinets now we have to figure out how to come up with the money to replace said cabinets. They are filing bankruptcy this is a fact we have the name of the attorneys if anyone needs them. Beware any company that Trevor Grace is involved in, they knew when they took our last payment of $8,000 they were not going to send our cabinets. They lied and stoled from us. Sad thing is we have dealt with them for 4 yrs. I designed 14 kitchens thru them and this is what we get. Good luck to all involved.

If you paid by credit card, you may be able to get your money back. In the past, I purchased a gift card from a store which later went bankrupt. I disputed the transaction with the credit card company based upon the fact that the store knew they would be in chapter 11 when they sold the gift certificate and got a complete refund. Good luck.

Pebbleslew, I think I am going to need the attorneys info from you if possible. We just found out that Buycabinets.com is in bankruptcy, we have about $8000 lost in there stupidity. We just talked with Norcraft, and they did get our order, but its on hold due to non-payment. So it looks like we are completely screwed on this. Since these cabinets for for a client, we really have no option except to repurchase from someone else so that we can complete our contract. I do feel your pain! Not to go off topic here....but it makes me wonder why/how they went under. Was it bad management? Poor business model/plan? Series of expensive blunders? Arguing amongst the owners?

Sorry to hear that some of you will/might lose money in this.

From what I can see this was by design, Trevor knew exactly what he was doing when he did this, he took our money with no intention of ever sending our cabinets, lies. Sad part is if he had a brain in his young head he would of stuck with the company he had and made more then enough money, instead he would rather STEAL large sums of money from people. We have dealt with them for four years. Then boom not because of anything but bad people.

Pebbles, you can't really believe he was stealing from you. Why do you think BuyCabinets is exempt from the rest of the country? This is happening all over the country. I was just laid off today, and do I think they were stealing from our customers? NO. This is a horrible economic time for everyone. It sounds like you did business with them for years, why now would they do this to you? I hope you were just reacting and I'm sure you are upset, but do you really think they wanted their business to fail? Do you think this is all easy on them? Instead of pointing fingers I would be grateful for the job you have.

boxermomma-what makes the new company think they can do anything but fail as well? same employees, same location, same sales pitch, the only thing that changed is the ownership name. they did this to clear out their debt and be able to start again. in my opinion people like that should not be allowed back into the business they failed in.

I have 2 businesses, so I work hard, my husband is a contractor who works for a living not sit at a desk. I don't lie, unlike Keith and company. And now in these hard times we have to come up with $16,000 that I paid in good faith when they said it would be taken 20 days before delivery date. So you see Boxer, yes I do think they stold and lied to me. Now I'm not sure who you're involved with, I've read things, but we know you for what you are, you're not fooling anyone anymore. Not quite sure how you can say they didn't steal from us or lied to us. I personally have a letter from Keith Ingle new owner from Direct Cabinet Source that said my balance for my $16,000 order would not be taken out until delivery date was 20 days away. Can't have a delivery date if never ordered, that's lying and stealing.

In researching additional cabinet companies that supply Kraftmaid, we made an interesting discovery. Under the BBB, if you look up Kitchen Master, Inc of Laguna Hills, CA...at the bottom of their screen you can click on 'DBA' (doing business as) and to our surprise it says BUYCABINETS.COM Doesn't this mean they are legally linked? As far as I can tell Kitchen Master is an up and running business. How do we go about finding out if they hold any legal responsibility for our money/cabinets? Is this something the detectives need to know about? Can someone look into this further??? Link below:

As I posted on another thread, at one time I heard that BuyCabinets.com moved to Arizona because so many kitchen reno's were being booked from CA that it made sense to move out of state so as to avoid sales tax (i.e., improve their margins by ~8%). I think a sales rep told me this a couple of years ago when i was first investigating a kitchen, which is yet to happen, LOL. He didn't refer to "margins" -- that was my take on it, though.

FYI if you call the number for Kitch Masters guess whose phone it goes too. Trevor Grace at Buycabinets.com So yes they are linked. But now its up to the courts. Buycabinets towards the end of the last year or so changed their numbers now its starting to make sense. The (949) area code is in the Laguna Nigel area, guess where Kitchen Masters is headquarters, Laguna Nigel, guess I'm gonna have to take a drive, only about an hour and a half away.

Hi all, just a note more to vent then anything. Just viewed the bankruptcy case for our friend Trevor and BC, I am sick to my stomach. There are over 400 names on the list of who he owes. I think he needs to be put in a very lonely cell and do some very heavy soul searching. If anyone has anything that will help with this case please call Det. Holland asap there are numerous people who are filing to revoke the bankruptcy, this needs to be stopped and he needs to be held accountable for his actions, most of the people named in this case are inviduals or small contractors or private parties. I see no large developers listed, so he took care of the big boys and screwed all the little guys, he should be in politics. So the date for the case to be viewed is March 23 at 1:30 Az. time. We need to get all our ducks in a row and list all info we have on them, they want corespndence and emails and bank records, and anything else you have. Please get it all together if we don't stand together things like this will keep happening, all listed should be receiving a letter from the courts if you don't in the next week to 10 days check back with all to see, I will let all know when we get ours, we will be in Flagstaff on the 23rd and see what can be done, if yo can make it please be there I know in these tough times its hard we're lucky we are within driving distance. Well I'm done venting thanks for the space, good luck and take care all, this is not an easy thing to swallow.

From what I understand you will be recieving a letter in the mail from the courts. We then have to get all info together, proof of payment all correspondence we had with them receipts ect. We will then be put on a list with the court, then if time we will have our time to present our case, the court will review and make its decision. Not sure what will happen after that but this is what I've been told, we will be there but only about 4 hrs away. Want to be heard and hopefully some restitution. This only if the bankrutpcy makes it to court and doesn't get revoked, if that happens it will then become a whole nother ball game. Then we deal with Det Holland, I know he doesn't have anything to do with the bankruptcy. But watch for the letter that will explain more. Good luck, maybe all of us who have be victims should have dinner when all is done if we're going to be in Flagstaff.

we are in california so it would be a long drive but possible for us. we also have frequent flyer miles we could use to get there. i guess it really comes done to if it could help in anyway before we spend more money on this situation

we received the letter, it basically said don't bother filling a claim because there are no assets.
