chrome faucet with stainless appliances?

I bought a chrome faucet but now I realize I would need to get chrome airswitch, soap dispenser, and hot water dispenser to match. Is it difficult to maintain chrome since water spots are so obvious on chrome? I can no longer return/exchange my chrome faucet which was $550. Should I just swallow the loss and try to sell it on craigslist and order faucets again in brushed nickel. My appliances are stainless steel and I prefer brushed nickel for my cabinet hardware. Do you have chrome mixed with with brushed nickel in your kichen? I am wondering about the look.

Chrome looks great with stainless steel and especially if you have a stainless steel sink. It's a tough and lasting finish and is less costly on all the things you need.

As an aside, today's taller faucets get lots fewer spots for the obvious reason...it's not in the way.

this comes up a lot here and people are happy with the mix. i have non nickel, but my chrome faucet looks fine with ss sink.

Most silver tones metals work well together. I have a stainless sink and brushed chrome faucet at my main sink and a stainless sink and brushed nickel sink for the island prep. The brushed nickel works there because I have a different counter material and it stands in front of my stainless fridge. I wanted the main sink to have a tall, clean and shiny faucet -- clean up should sparkle. Oh, BTW, my cabinet hardware is also brushed and the polished faucet still looks good. I also have a polished chrome pot filler on the opposite side of the kitchen and little things you don't think about like the top of the cookie jar, the mixer bowl, utensils in the crock that are polished metals. A few things that sparkle are not bad -- unless you are looking for a very soft, matte finish on everything.

Here's another vote for chrome. I have it as a finish on my faucet at our lakehouse where we have soapstone countertops and sink. I think it looks timeless and don't have any problem with upkeep. I have had "chrome look" fixtures in my bathrooms which were hard plastic with a silver finish and they were a nightmare to keep nice looking. They were always spotty and the finish rubbed off if you tried to clean any grime off them. If it's real chrome you shouldn't have problems. I have a stainless sink in my kitchen here at home and went with a stainless faucet (installed about 7 yrs. ago, before I knew of this forum.) Wish I'd gone w/ chrome here, too, as the 2 stainless finishes are different in hue, and it has always bugged me.

I am because I thought I would get tired of the "all stainless steel" look over time and the chrome is more versatile. I went through way too much angst about it, too. I have brushed nickel nobs, I believe, because they were one of only two "free" options my kitchen installer gave me, but I will probably change those in time. If I get tired of the stainless or brushed finishes it would be a lot more expensive to change if I had to replace everything around the sink, esp the main faucet and instant hot faucet. I plan to leave ss appliances and sink, and chrome fixtures, and switch the nobs, pulls and lights between shiny and matte finishes as the mood takes me! I had a ss sink and chrome fixtures for years. It is only recently that anyone has started to question if that is "OK" or not. Price was not a consideration for me, becuase my faucet was affordable either way, but the chrome does tend to cost a little less, also. Sue

Recommendations for low profile faucets

I have a Kohler Fairfax pullout at my prep sink. I also wanted a low profile faucet b/c (1) it has cabinets over part of it (it's in a corner) and (2) it's on our peninsula and I didn't want it to overwhelm. I also wanted a pullout or pull down since I don't like the separate sprays on the side (can't "lock" them on & are more awkward to use, in my experience). For some uses, like filling pots or the fish water bucket on the counter, I prefer the pullout to my pull down on my main/cleanup sink. (To fill a pot sitting on the counter, I just pull out the faucet, hook the faucet head on the edge of the pot, and then go do something else while it fills...but you have to keep an eye on it so it doesn't overflow!) For me, a pullout was a better choice all around for the prep sink.

I agree. Chrome is a classic finish that goes with everything. I've mixed chrome, stainless steel, and aluminum in my kitchen and it "works."

I have a chrome faucet, stainless appliances and antique brass lighting and hardware. Chrome is classic.

You Gel Gloss to maintain the chrome. It is available at HD. Wipe it on with a rag, leaving residue. Let it dry and then wipe it off with a clean rag, sort of buffing it. It will stain spotless for weeks. It is safe if it gets on marble or granite as well, so no worries.

I have ss appliances, a big ss sink, brushed nickel hardware, and a beautiful md. high arc faucet in chrome (along with soap dispenser). It's a classic look, imho. My faucet doesn't get very grungy, and shines when I wipe it with a miracle clothe. Wouldn't change a thing.

@sue36 Could you post a picture of your kitchen? I see your comment is from 13 years ago, and I'm wondering if I can do white farm sink with chrome faucet, ss appliances and brushed gold hardware and lighting?
