This mounting method is fine, and quite common. Guys in my area only do it when they don't have room to use the clips. If the sink fills most of the interior space, they have no way to attach them.

There are pros & cons for each type of reveal: Positive--where the sink shows/granite is cut slightly larger than sink Pros: easier to clean b/c you can see the gunk and can easily wipe it off (it only gets nasty if you leave it there) Cons: silicone (caulk?) is visible, but if they use clear you won't see it when it dries Negative--where the granite overhangs the sink Pros: You cannot see the gunk buildup or silicone Cons: -- You cannot see the gunk to clean it. -- Dirty water/food can splash up & under where you cannot see to clean it. It's difficult to see underneath w/o leaning way over & into the sink. -- Dishes have been known to break b/c when you lift them out near the edge of the sink they dish hits the stone counter & can break (or, if the dish wins, the counter could chip...but I'm not sure how likely that is). Flush--where the granite & sink are the same Pros: -- easier to clean b/c you can see the gunk -- no platform over or under for the gunk to collect Cons: -- more difficult to do perfectly -- silicone is visible, but if they use clear you won't see it when it dries You will find proponents of all three types of reveals here...but in the end it's what works best for you. Not advised to create a ledge. You physically can, but now you depend on silicon to keep things water tight. If you keep a zero reveal or an overhang, then water is less likely to accumulate on the sink flange (Which is used to create the ledge). The silicone then can stay intact longer, and not be needed as the primary water guard. Often the biggest problem we see with ledge sinks is with the installation. Some issues we have been told is with accessories not fitting. However, this is easily avoidable with two best practices: 1. The fabricator should always follow the template 2. Once the hole is cut for the sink, dry fit the accessories to ensure smooth sailing from the client. If you like ledge sinks then check this new release: Kraus Kore

I disagree with Joseph. A 30" cabinet is not 30" inside. A so-called 30" sink indeed need close to 30" to mount. It may not fit. Fortunately, Melody has a 27" sink, not a 30" one. It should fit no problem in her cabinet. If by "dishwasher outlet" you're talking about the receptacle for the dishwasher, as long as the plug will fit into it and you can reach it, it should be OK. If the plug itself is the disconnect, it's required to be visible to the guy working on the dishwasher, but a unplugged-plug is going to be pretty easy to see even if the receptacle itself isn't. The other thing to consider (since this was in the plumbing in addition to the electrical forum) is to make sure whatever disposal/tailpiece you're using will meet up with the drain line from the dishwasher.
