Bianco Romano or River White with Chiffon white cabinets
Comments (6)I might debate the winner of the indecision crown (I crowned my wife decades ago), but I think you might find the results of our research helpful. Unless you're ambivalent, decide on how much motion and what kind of motion you like. Don't fall in love with a name, fall in love with a specific slab or group of slabs. If you're dealing with a granite yard, make a note not only of the name, but also the lot number and the slab number(s) you want. Even within a lot there can be significant variations. If you search this forum you will find some outstanding examples of delicatus gold, namibian gold, and solarius. While all 3 of these can be INTENSELY gold, but if you find the right lot you will have a gorgious whitish background with infusions of golds and greys and creams. When you find the slab you like, get a hold on it right then and there. It's not like you can wait for an identical one to come in in the next lot. When that slab is gone, it's gone. If you're in Massachusetts, we may be the couple next to you agonizing over the same slabs :) Good hunting...See MorePersian Pearl vs. Bianco Romano granite
Comments (10)Thanks for the link with your house photos Debra - the Bianco Romano in your kitchen is gorgeous! I was leaning toward the Persian Pearl, but may have to rethink that :) And I love the marble backsplash with it, regardless of what the salesperson thought. It looks like the marble we are using in our master suite bath (also part of the renovation!). I think the marble we're using is Venatino. Actually, the thing that originally drew me to the Bianco Romano is that it reminded me of marble. Unfortunately, I don't think the slab we saw was as nice as yours - it didn't seem to have as much coloration and was primarily light gray with garnet flecks. I think they had multiple slabs though, so I'd have to look at all of them before making a decision. I'm glad to hear that you've never had an issue with it. Oh, and I think your bulldog is really cute! But then again, I've never seen a dog that I didn't consider cute :) Daki, I do like the irridescent patches in the polished Persian Pearl, but for some reason, I think I prefer it honed. We're debating whether to use glass tile for the backsplash, so not sure if so many shiny things will be a bit too much. I think the Bianco Romano would definitely lose much of it's beauty if honed though, not to mention the supplier wants to charge us $10/sq ft to hone it!...See MoreIs Bianco Romano granite pinkish???
Comments (5)If the guy won't show you other slabs, go someplace else. Stick to your guns, it's way too much money not to get exactly what you want. There are a few burgundy specks in my Bianco Romano, not really pink. I was very worried about too much "pink" in my slab too. It all depends on the slab. The sample I was given had lots of dark, almost black, graining in it, and the slab I chose did, too. But when the slabs were installed there is very little dark graining in it, and lots of lighter graining with a definite bluish hue. Not exactly what I was expecting, and I was somewhat disappointed. It doesn't really "go" with the backsplash nor the island slab. They insist they installed the right slabs, but I'm convinced it wasn't the one I chose. I needed 3 slabs of Bianco Romano for my perimter counters, and was told they were the same "slices"....See MoreNeed Help Choosing Backsplash to Compliment Bianco Romano Granite
Comments (9)Thanks for the ideas and pics remodelfla and jb1176. I took a look at Lisa's oatmeal tile and subway backsplashes, and really thought they both looked beautiful in her home. I've actually been leaning towards using a plain white subway, but I believe my husband would like some color in the mix. I also really like (but not sure these would look good in my kitchen): ljsandler's diamond backsplash... meg's subway tile... Would a white subway or diamond tile work in my kitchen? I don't have as fancy a kitchen as Lisa, LJSandler or Meg. I'm still open to color, but I've visited a few tile stores and am having a heck of a time finding a tile that really picks up a color in the granite. There are so many beautiful stone tiles that just look too gold/yellow to suit this granite. Sigh, this little decision seems to be consuming so much of my time lately....See Morejejvtr
