You can remove the center panel and replace it with glass. It will look fine, especially if you use something other than clear glass. Maybe something like ribbed, antiqued, pressed leaf, or with a screen laminated in between two layers. I would only do the double cabinet to the left of the sink, and I'd add corbels to give it a "hutch" type of appearance. Keep the door to the right as a solid door. Add in light rail molding for all uppers. Also think about doing glass shelves and interior lighting. Those are the finishing details that will make it really work well.

These doors may not work for removing the panels. The corners are mitered. I am no carpenter but I would think the stiles and rails would need to be mortise and tenon to work. The mitered corners do not look strong to me at all.

I would just leave the doors off and trim the front edges of the shelves with some 1x2s or whatever dimension of wood that would match up to your cabinet frames. Paint them the same grey and the open cabinet boxes will look like planned open display cases. It's the wimpy shelf edge that's giving them an unfinished appearance.

I went with seeded glass. It does not distort much, but gives a different look than clear. I wanted it for the more "old home" look.

I think glass will be great - to allow a hint of color to show through with the white, especially those glasses -love that color!

I think seeded glass would look good in your kitchen and would still allow you to have the glass doors without worrying too much about seeing straight into your cabinets.
