knobs on drawers pulls on doors, am I the only one?
Comments (18)Thanks guys, I've been watching cooking shows today and obsessing over hardware! Guess what, America's Test kitchen used knobs on drawers so it must be ok! (or maybe it was the other show I watched?) I wanted a real mix of hardware, yes I love yours Igloo, but I made too many other choices! I got too tired out. DH will be around tomorrow for install so I told him to decide on placement FOR me! Yes, "decision prison" LOL!! I'm refusing to decide on a backsplash for now, even though we have a history of never finishing everything! I think I would just pick something safe, which might be ok, but I don't want to regret it later. Sooo anxious to see it in real life and see if it all comes together!!!!...See MorePull on Fake Drawer Front under Cooktop???
Comments (4)We had two of those fake drawer fronts before we remodeled. The one in front of the sink had a nameplate of the cabinet manufacturer; behind the one in front of the Jenn-Air cooktop were the grease jars for the grill. The cooktop one did have a pull on it, and I think it would have looked odd without the pulls. In our new kitchen, we have a tip-out in front of the sink (the subject of several threads on this site) and a drawer under the cooktop, which is a huge help for storing potholders, some stirring tools, splatter screens, and other thin items. Both of those have pulls on them because they're no longer "fake" drawers. Yay!...See More"Fake" Drawers in Sink Cabinet
Comments (13)I would not install a towel bar there, as it might encourage you to hang a wet towel on that cabinet front and that will degrade the finish of the wood over time. If you lean against the sink while you stand at it you may not want to put any hardware on those at all because it would be pretty much at your hip height and be uncomfortable to lean against. If you can get the fronts off, you could install the tip out hardware but I would look inside the cabinet and measure the distance from the sink to the cabinet to make sure there's enough space for the hardware to go inside there first. Several people with tip out hardware have ended up not wanting to use it because their loved ones kept placing too wet sponges in there and it created problems so they ended up sealing it shut. if you use a cloth rather than a sponge I don't see what purpose having a tip out drawer would have....See MoreDrawer handles knobs pulls....
Comments (25)Almost.... really really close but not quite. The furniture is done. I thought I had set up with my nephew and the cabinet maker to move it today. But evidently something came up with the nephew and family. So maybe the base will be installed today and the cabinet next week. Sigh. I did move everything out of the way including the fridge. I dealt with the scary stuff under the fridge. The back of the fridge lines up with that post now. Oh and you can kind of see my paint color - which I love. It changes from green to yellow to cream/white depending on the light. And from soft to bright. A question - how often do you all scrub the floor under your fridge? I generally get under there two or three times a year. Clearly not enough because it was gross! And for no particular reason here are some shiitake mushrooms I am growing....See MoreUser
