Anyone use 24 x 24 inch tile? Anyone?
Comments (15)It's not just the "levelness". It's the support under the floor that keeps it rigid. Any flex at all, and it will crack. It doesn't matter if it's smooth and totally level. It's all about your joists and subfloor. Your joists need to have the right spacing, the right depth, and not span too long of a length. Plus the subfloor needs to be the right thickness. A lot of time, this add considerable height to the installation in order to add rigidity. Your expert should be fully knowledgable about how to do the math to calculate whether or not your home can support such large tile without cracking. If he doesn't mention or understand how to calculate your existing space's deflection, then he doesn't know enough to do the job. Period. Move on to someone who does know how to figure this information out. Or, perhaps DIY it with the help of the pros at the John Bridge Forum....See MoreHas anyone used glass mosaic tile from The Tile Shop?
Comments (4)I haven't used glass mosaic tile from The Tile Shop, but I did buy porcelain tile (that is supposed to look like marble) from them and didn't have any issues. I mixed in and ordered my glass mosaic tile from Overstock... No issues and looks great after a year and a half. I'm sure you'll be fine buying from The Tile Shop. Oh, and my shower floor and bathroom floor came from Lowes and no issues there either... But I wouldn't hesitate to buy from The Tile Shop.. Not unless you can find something similar for less. Believe me, I saw lots of glass tile that I loved at The Tile Shop, but couldn't fork over $25 a sq foot, so I found what I needed on Overstock for about $10-$12. Good Luck...See MoreAnyone used DalTile QuicTile or RevoTile flooring? Complaints/Raves?
Comments (40)I have tried multiple applications in an attmpt to get rid of the haze. So far the most success I have had is with Mapei ultracare epoxy grout haze remover. It takes a lot of time and scrubbing. I applied the solution to a small area. Let it sit 20 - 30 minutes and then scrubbed with a sponge scrubber. Rinse thououghly afterwrds. It takes a great deal of time and effort to do a small space. My entire kitchen has grout haze. I have finally hired a floor company to come and strip the floor - I don't know if it will work any better but I don't have the time to spend one hour scrubbing a square foot of kitchen tile. The tile and grout is lovely - I just wish my contractor had known the grout was not like ordinary grout....See MoreHas anyone used Mission Tile's Terra Bella terra cotta tile?
