Breaks in enamel finish of (relatively) new Wolf oven?
Comments (55)I bought a Wolf Range and immediately started having enamel issues on the range top and inside the ovens themselves. The first replacement was inside the warranty window in 2018. However, the registered repairmen also bent the hinges when replacing the cavity which was obviously my fault at $400. Recently I cooked a Tennessee Peach Pudding and it spilled over. When I wiped it out, the enamel came along with it. Deep crevices of glass have come away. The registered repair company, Bekins just left and quoted me $3400 to replace the cavity and I could take it up with Wolf if I wanted to complain. Also, 2 of the nobs are springing back to low on their own and not staying in possession. This replacement per Wolf requires that all valves be replaced. I don’t think I’ve ever spent so much money on such an inferior product in all my 60 years. I’m awaiting the call back from my complaint made today....See MoreKohler cast iron enamel sinks--no lead--less durable?
Comments (3)My cast iron enameled sink is not Kohler, but I had the same concerns before installing as I had also read about not including lead in the finish. At first I was super carefull, but over time I have become more comfortable with the sink. I haven't had any chips from regular use. There have been some "metal marks" which come out pretty easily with some lysol and a scotchbrite pad. We wash alot of cast iron pans which are easy to "ding" things with, but we are careful not place them in the sink, not throw. We don't have kids so that helps, however my husband is as hard on things as any teenager....See MorePorcelain/enamel repair kit suggestion for my Kohler Cast Iron Sink?
Comments (18)Well the trim on the front of the sink won't let it slide down and the fact that the sink is deeper than the apron means it wouldn't slide forward without destroying the cabinet front. However it is in an island, it would be easiest to remove the countertop and pull it out. Of course that means pulling out the garbage disposal and faucet. Its all doable even by us (with some additional muscle for moving the countertop) just not worth it to us yet unless it gets much worse. I found a light cured acrylic surface repair kit. (It can be used on porcelain, ceramic, marble but its acrylic.) Its worth it to me to try this first especially because that's a spot that's usually covered. DH did agree with you all that we should probably go ahead and get the replacement, but we're not in a hurry to switch it out yet. We've still got lots of work ahead of us in this kitchen yet. Here's a picture of the front of the island right after the countertop went on....See MoreThoughts on Enameled Steel Kitchen Sinks? Thinking this as an option
Comments (9)Wow. Quality certainly has declined in everything. I had an yellow enamel sink in my kitchen. Almost harvest Gold in color so you know the timing of that installation. never chipped, but I was changing the laminate countertops so I changed the sink. That was about ten years ago. That sink stood up well over the years. I replaced it with stainless steel. It's OK, but I really like that yellow! Brightened up the whole kitchen....See Moreliriodendron
