Photos of white/cream kitchens with black ranges?

As I've been planning my dream kitchen for the past few months, I've had a cream 48" Bertazzoni as center stage and been choosing finishes that will complement that choice.

I've just found a steal on a 48" black Bertazzoni and don't think I can turn it down. That means that I am now rethinking just about every choice I've made up until now.

I've tried to look for pictures of kitchens with white or cream cabinets and a black range, but don't come up with many results.

If you have a black range, I'd love to see photos of them. Thanks!

here is mine. I went through the same thing and posted here for advise- everyone gave me a thumbs up and told me to do it and 5 years later- I still love it. hope this helps :-)

I just showed the Wal-Mart bedding to my friend and she says it is exactly like the comforter set her daughter has. Isn't it beautiful? Actually, I can't tell a lot of difference between this and some of the more expensive bedding. The effect is the same. I must run out right now but when I come back to the forum in the morning, hopefully, we'll have other black and white bedrooms to view. Thanks, everyone!!

Oooh--I just googled that stove. How beautiful. Let's see now. For my 1955 O'keefe and Merrit I would say.... Pros: 1. High btu's (for a residential--non "pro style" stove). Burners up to about 13.000. Not sure how low the simmer is, but there is a teeny weeny little simmer burner on each of the 4 burners. You can also adjust the flames easily. Everything is accessible. 2. Fold down top. Many vintage stoves have covers to make up for the lack of counter space in vintage kitchens. I use this "counter" allllllll the time. So my stove is closed more than it is open. 3. Style (of course!). A vintage kitchen needs a vintage looking stove. 4. The pilot light in the oven keeps the oven at about 100 degrees, which I love for rising bread dough. Also works to keep food warm. 5. The high end of the temp spectrum is great. My oven goes to about 600 degrees, so it makes great pizza (I keep a pizza stove on the bottom all the time. So, excellent looks and cooking performance. And mine was "only" 800 bucks. She is definitely the star of the kitchen. Visitors gravitate toward her, pet her, and gush. Cons: 1. All those pilot lights raise the gas bill a bit. But I have no idea how much. 2. All those pilot lights heat up the kitchen. I live in Northern California. In the fall and winter and spring, I love this. In July and August, it can really add unwanted heat to the kitchen. What I usually do when a heat spell is coming is turn off the gas, and gook via grill, electric kettle, and microwave. The only hassle to this is that I have to slide the 400lb stove out from the wall to shut the gas off. 3. Smell. I don't know what is going on with my stove in this respect. But the exhaust smell (it isn't a "fresh gas" smell) that comes from it when I use can be unpleasant. It isn't horribly strong, but you can smell it. It really bugs my husband. We do not have a stove pipe (which the stove should have), nor do we have a vent hood. Once we have a hood, this problem should be solved. 4. Tiny oven. I can fit a half sheet pan in there, but nothing much larger than that. I can fit a roaster, but it is tight. I cannot fit a ginormous family size pizza. So, big thanksgiving style meals would be tough (I haven't attempted any.) I really really really wish I had held out for a stove with 2 ovens. Two ovens would be a lifesaver, and many vintage stoves have 2 ovens. 5. My stove isn't well insulated, so it gets friggin hot on the outside!! When my youngest was 2, I was a nervous spaz about having him in the kitchen when I was cooking. Especially if I were making pizza! Thank goodness my boys are older now. Unfortunately, I can't really afford to have the stove taken apart, and reinsulated. (Actually, I have no clue if it even has insulation in there.) I think that's about it. There might be other concerns with a 1924 stove (it may not have continuous pilots), but if you are working with a good dealer, he or she can advise you. I have a friend with a 1920's Spark stove (yellow with red knobs!). She is an awesome cook and baker (and has the tiniest amount of counter space I've ever seen!). She adores her stove, and raves about its performance. She has a stove pipe, and I've never smelled any exhaust in her kitchen. But that remind me: older stoves with a stove pipe sit at least a foot (or more) away from the wall. this is a problem in a tiny kitchen, so you might want to look at younger stoves... Notice how they happen to use both white AND black in there.... not helping me! On another note, the original plan for light grey cabs stemmed from a desire to keep the kitchen bright. We havr since decided to add more windows to incorporate more natural light. Does all this feel like its going to be to dark? We could go with a brighter blue to lighten it up...

You’ve made some very specific, completely limiting choices there, and there might be a reason you’re not finding much. It might not be that aesthetically pleasing to most folks. It reads dark to me. Broaden your horizons a bit by looking for images of two toned kitchens you actually like. A lighter counter and a blue backsplash do it for me. You will learn a lot about your own sense of style this way.

Beautiful kitchen, kgsmom! We're also going to have a stained island - well more of a natural cherry. I'm also going to have soapstone. Ours is a little psychedelic because it changes from black/grey and white to green and cream with rust colors as well. So, I want to choose carefully when it comes to other finishes.

If you don't mind me asking, was limestone very expensive? And do you have to seal it often? I want a natural stone for the backsplash that will mimic the organic nature of the counters.

I guess I need to decide if I want cream cabs with white tile or white cabs with cream tile to balance that beautiful black range.

It's a good thing I have until the spring because my choices seem to keep changing as time goes on...

shanghaimom - I was hoping you'd post because I remember this range and your kitchen and remember how lovely it was - but wasn't sure who the lucky owner was.

Are you still happy with your Berta?

I'm looking at a Pro, but I've been batting around the idea of getting their Heritage range hood to match it. (that was my original plan when I was going to get the cream) But, your range with the steel hood is just beautiful!

I really, really, love the Berta. The only annoyance is that the oven rack brackets are weirdly spaced (too close) so it is impossible to use both racks unless one of them is a cookie sheet. With very FLAT cookies. The top one would smash any food next to the broiler. I keep thinking I should be able to flip them over or am somehow doing something wrong, but I think not. (It DID take me over a year to discover the storage space underneath, so maybe I AM missing something....)

The heritage range hood is gorgeous. My kitchen is quite "plain" --for me, it was too...something.

I also liked the cream color, but it turned out to clash with my paint, which is throughout the whole house. I'm so glad I got the black. I don't think you could go wrong with either color.

shanghaimom - that's too bad about the racks. I've wondered about that since the oven is a little smaller. I've gone back and forth between the 36" and the 48", not sure if I would need a 2nd oven. I'm lucky that the bargain I found was on the 48, so your input really helps push me to that 48".

Meowzer - thanks for those pictures. I love the look of the black ranges with the black hoods!

Thanks for the nice words :-). Geez I can't remember the cost of the tile exactly but I don't think it was outrageous...as for sealing, I've only done it a few times in 5 years. I probably should do it more often but oh well. Good luck with the remodel- it's stressful but oh so much fun :-)

Ayerg, you didn't mention what you will be using for your counter. Keep in mind that all those blacks stoves look great because they tie in with the black or dark counters.
