Giallo Ornamental Grnite & White Subway Tile Backsplash?
Comments (10)Sorry to hijack - harriethomeowner - too funny! I'm scrolling and I think "oh, neat. that's the same splash as mine. wait a minute. that IS my backsplash!" LOL! I am laughing that I can recognize the pattern of tiles. :) I was glad to read it's a mock-up and I'm not going THAT crazy yet. The section that was used for the mock-up has a little higher proportion of blue in it than it should (even though I was mixing the lots like crazy). It will look great with your granite!...See MoreBacksplash for Giallo Ornamental granite
Comments (4)We are just finishing our new kitchen, white shaker cabinets and giallo ornamental granite which was just installed 2 days ago and is absolutely gorgeous!! I fell in love with travertine, so we are going with the tumbled imperial cream subway 3x6 tiles. I was going to do the mosaic picasso for behind the range but was worried it would be too busy. I am adding a link to a picture on houzz with the GO and a mosaic backsplash that is breathtaking. From experience, if you decide on the mosaic or any travertine for that matter, I would ask for a sample from the lot you would be getting so you can see the range of colors and see if it would be too busy or not, it is amazing how the colors can vary from the tile stores samples they have. Good luck! Comments (1)I can't answer your question, but I found this picture on Houzz. The tiles are laid out differently on the floor compared to the walls. Running bond on the walls and herringbone on the floor. Looks fine to me. But I love variety. Your walls will need to be extremely flat to do the large format tile with tight grout lines. 12x18 tiles laid on the diagonal seem awkward to me with the dimension of the backsplash space available. Draw it out on graph paper, to scale, to see if you'd like it. Herringbone in that size might work, but you might not have enough space to really pick up the pattern effectively. Again a drawing would be very helpful to you to decide. Comments (3)My floor is diagonal and my backsplash (12" tiles) is also diagonal. Looks good to me!! In fact, I think it's nice to carry the diagonal theme in more than one place....See MoreJim Peschke
