What Sheen for Cabinet Trim?

Help! DH wants me to buy the cabinet trim paint today and I'm stumped.

Our cabinets are Ikea's Adel White. (We need to paint a small crown, side end panels, kick plate, possibly a light rail, and hopefully some cute "feet" and brackets in a few spots.)

I've read that Ben Moore's Cloud White is a good match for Adel White, and that the finish on Adel has a "satin" look to it (slight sheen).

What sheen should I buy the trim paint in? Should I try to match the cabinet doors' sheen, or should the trim's sheen be glossier? (Hmmm - or maybe the end panels and lightrail should be satin-ish, but the crown, feet, and brackets should be more of a semi gloss?)

Please help! Thank you! :)

(P.S. For anyone who followed our crazy no crown, crown, no crown fiasco - we are back to having a small crown again. It turned out that our frameless cabinets actually needed to have some clearance at the top so the doors open properly - which means I get my mini crown after all. Yay!)

I'm glad you were able to get your crown. It really creates a nice look!

I would chose the satin sheen. I would want everything to look like it was supposed to be together. If you change sheens on some items, they may stick out and look like it was an 'after thought'. IMHO!

I would try to match the cabinet doors.
See if you can buy small samples of a few different finishes so you can compare.

We used BM Satin Impervo. I have NO idea what the sheen percentage is, but it seems like it would be sheenless enough (not a bit of Charlie glitz or greasy sleeze) to contrast with your high gloss. I found this on a site that offers advice from painting pros: Low Sheen Enamels Low sheen paints look better in terms of hiding the application method (and other imperfections in the substrate as well) than high gloss enamels. The higher the gloss, the more perfect the application will need to be. The best compromise for a good smooth-to-the-touch feel and a good appearance is a satin sheen or lower luster semi-gloss. This gloss level will have a nice enamel "glow" to it, and still not accentuate the imperfections in the substrate or highlight the application method. Don't go too low with the sheen or it will not have the smooth feel to the touch , and will also pick up dirt more easily than mid sheen paints. Not sure what it's called, but I demanded the very least shine. Is that satin? Finish man recommended the slightly shiny, sent a sample, and I said NO shine. We have a lot of windows and have chosen a laminate with a semi-shiny finish. Enough.

I suspect it is the Milesi 2k poly in 20 "sheen." It is one of the more popular sheens for Milesi. ETA: matching sheen can be rougher than color actually. BM Advance tends to be on the glossy side, so even their satin will be a 30 or more. While Sherwin William's waterborne tends to be on the flatter side. It is difficult to dictate a sheen match in a limited product line like BM Advance. Your best bet might be to consider various products or brands.
