STILL undecided on window trim - white or maple?

My kitchen will be natural maple with chocolate glaze. I'm doing High definition Wilson-art Bronze Eclipse for counter tops. I'm unsure about flooring at this time. My paint colors will be Koi pond and Canoe through Sherwin Williams. I am getting a patio door and would like my kitchen window to go down to the counter. The rest of my house is painted baseboards and no trim around the windows. My ceilings are 8' high. I am considering Pella windows with built in (mocha colored) blinds. I cannot decide whether to get maple trim or white wood on the window and patio door. I will accent with black cabinets pulls and black dining room light, recessed lighting elsewhere.

Sounds like you dont have white trim in the house, which is normally where I look for clues so given you are going for the bronze windows I'd go with the wood.

But if your doors are trimmed out in white or another painted color, I'd use that color for some flow from the new kitchen to the rest of the house.

I'm assuming this is a newer home. If the house is historic my answer totally changes lol. Just in case that will confuse you.

I'd probably choose the maple trim since it's near the cabinets.

I'd go with a different brand of windows. Check the windows forum and the rest of the web. There's been a lot of dissatisfaction with Pella recently.

The bedroom trim is "Mayonnaise," a BenMoore color. I'll have to look up the office color tomorrow, but I think it's Martha Stewart's "Buttercream". They are not pure white. The sewing room does have a pure white trim, Dutch Boy's ultra white. It's magic against the pale lilac walls and medium stained white oak floors. The bathroom trim is black. It's not actually finished yet, but it will be a textured, leather-look black paint to match the medicine cabinets. All the doors in all these rooms are white. The bedrooms have the original 1952 flat panel doors. They were such a nice quality I couldn't bear to replace them. The bathroom door is new. It's a flat, solid panel door. I may paint the inside of the door a deep red to set off the stark black and white bathroom. My windows are Marvin; they are a white fiberglass blend on the outside and painted wood on the inside. They came primed and I had to paint them the window trim color. That was a real pain. This spring we're putting new windows in the kitchen and living room. These will be the Marvin Ultrex; I won't have to paint them. I don't have a "grand" or "beautiful" house. It's a plain little country house in a little prairie town. We are managing however to put a little spin on the "plain."

Cathy K, Recommend you get a couple poster boards from Michaels and pick a couple or several sample colors. Cut the poster boards in half and place them on each wall in the area you want to paint as one wall may look perfect and the other may look green, blue, pink...... Check them throughout the day and in the evening with lights on. Silver Polish was recommended above and it worked in their home... however, may be a different story in your home yet worth a try as I'm not familiar with this color. Next to whites, gray is a hard paint to select. Use the poster boards to avoid a huge waste of time.... Did this one time long ago with Eider white by SW which looked great in a model home we were decorating... I painted my master bath remodel and it was PINK! I should have tested....Always test is my food for thought! Silver Chain is another color you might try.... may be too dark for your liking? Dove wing or White dove by BM might be a nice tone you like if you've not tested it. Most importantly I'd to the poster board test as crazy as it is it is different in each and every home. Good luck!

If it's just the primer on the trim now, you will want to paint them. Primer doesn't offer the wood the protection that paint does. It's hard to make a decision without seeing a picture of the full house, but I think I'd do the trim in white but leave the verticle pieces the color of the house.

I like walls ceiling and trim all the same color I use matte for both walls and ceiling and then a satin or semigloss for trim . I like Healing Aloe and it looks good with white trim. The window trim is just trim treat the same as the rest of the trim

You mentioned painted baseboards in the rest of the house. White? Are doors painted also? If so I would go with white.

I have a 50's Ranch style. My baseboard trim is the same wall color the room is. I can always paint them white. But my doors are all wood from the 50's which is oak or birch. I don't think I want to change them to white though

I'd get the wood and then if ou don't like it you can always paint it.

Start with wood because you can always paint it later on if your choice changes.
I ditto the window advice as I came across a lot of dissatisfaction with Pellas during my research.

I don't think I'd get windows with built-in blinds. My windows should last 30 years. In that time, I'll probably replace mini-blinds at least every 10 years if not sooner. If there's a problem, you're changing out a window when only the mini-blind is broken. We did find some after market miniblinds to cover our patio door windows; they fit over the existing frames & are wonderful--we get a lot of afternoon sun through them.
