Finished Grout color does not match sample: arghhhh!
Comments (80)Same story. I picked out a dark grey I think it was Pearl Grey Maipei to go w Cle Tiles Slate plank floor tile. Grout looked awful - like 2-3 shades too dark when I wanted it to match. Thankfully my contractor is lovely, he said if it wasn't what I wanted he'd make it right. He filed out the grout by hand (tile edges are slightly chewed up, but he warned me) and regrouted w Custom Prism grout color Charcoal. I was much happier with the results. Now planning for my kitchen backsplash and this thread is making me reluctant to go with Maipei again, even tho on paper 77 Frost looks like it should be a close to perfect match to my Bedrosians Clara Matte Grey tile....See Moremaking grout color samples
Comments (1)I just received a tile sample board and they used a foam core board to adhere the tiles to. It's quite sturdy and supports them well. Perhaps you could use that and just put dollops of the different grouts down. I think it would work great and they're readily available. HTH ~Marcia...See MorePhotoshopped Arabesques ready for Reveal
Comments (61)I was undecided and didn't think you could go wrong either way, but still can't wait to see what you decided. So photographer is coming the 22 or 23rd? Then when is the install? Now that I know when the prom photos will be taken I need to know when the "dress fitting" is happening! :>) Did you decide how high you'll be taking the tile or is mum the word on that too for now? Bee I keep going back to your pics and notice more details each time. Can you tell me about the backsplash behind your range? Love how it reflects the sparkle of your chandelier. Not sure where one piece ends and another starts. Is it part of your range or hood or fabricated seperately? Can you please tell me how that look is achieved? Is it stainless and how do you care/clean it without scratching? Who makes the range, hood and piece inbetween? Thankks!...See MoreGrout color - Pewter or Delorean Gray
Comments (9)oldbat2be - thanks for the suggestion but I am grouting tomorrow. I am a graphic designer and use Photoshop so this is something I could have done but don't have the time. And, I do not have enough tiles left to do a decent sample board anyway....plus I just tossed out what was left of my thinset. I had left a message with the sales person at Heath Ceramics earlier today with the same question. She did call me back (yay!) and she suggested the Delorean Gray for a number of reasons. There are some lighter areas in my Raven countertop that the Delorean matches quite close. She also emphasized that the Delorean will have a decent amount of contrast with the tile without being overdone. I do like dark grout when I see it in photos however I think it might be a little too industrial for my house. My goal was to have a kitchen that was nice to look at without becoming dated in 5-10 years. Yes, it's a little on the conservative side but it's waaaay better than my old kitchen. Feast your eyes on the attached "before" photos. Thanks again!...See Morelaila619
