#likewhatyoudo I found this post after searching for pics of grout colors to use with our black slate tiles. We are debating delorian grey and pewter but I’m thinking pewter is too blue. This is so helpful! We also have a white shiplap wall and need to paint our vanities. Would you mind telling me what color/sheen you painted the shiplap and color/sheen of your vanity ? Are they the same? Your trim looks a tad brighter than the shiplap but could be lighting. It’s all so great!

Hey there, I have the same granite and backsplash as you! You'll see my pictures on the thread bluekitobsessed was talking about, I'll add the link to it. I also used the natural gray grout because that's what was used on my floors (also slate) and I had a bunch left over. Just a tip...I sealed first, too...but needed to seal again after grouting as sponging off the excess grout also seemed to wash off most of the sealer, too. I used an enhancing sealer and it also darkened my grout so you might want to consider that if you think your grout is too light. I also agree with the other posters about the wallpaper being too busy with the tile. The green paint you have is lovely! Mine's the deep terra cotta colored kitchen. Good luck! You have great taste! sweeby....I'm thinking just like you... I would not do stone...it breaks the "flow" of the polished stone counters and cabinets....you ultimately want something to complement the space not compete with it...I'm not liking the subway tile because it will actually bring the cabinets down onto the counter..meaning visually your eye will pick up a squatty center and not one that brings your eye up and through the cabinets...I think a great ceramic tile the brings your eye up and has some hues in it that complement your granite would be best..if you break down your counter into 10 colors...I would stick to 2-3 of the colors in the lower half of those colors in terms of darkness..I'm thinking of something along the lines of a soft honey or cream... I don't think these harlequins would be the best choice but maybe a flatter ceramic with a bit of a beveled edge...maybe 4 inch squares in a diamond pattern....but the colors are what I'm thinking of...

It is VERY difficult to help one pick a grout without being present with the tile and seeing grout samples. There are many different types of grout as well. EPOXY grout Made from epoxy resins and a filler powder, the grout is extremely hard, durable, and nearly stain proof. Often times the bond between tiles is stronger than the tile itself. Many installers don't prefer to use this as you need to work quickly with it....That is MY opinion. You really need to look in to getting some tile bars to put next to your stone. Even if you have, "The Tile Store" in your area... you can go in and they have many color options. The Epoxy grout when cured(I believe about 48 hrs.) is mostly impervious to staining, chipping and cracking yet it can slump. We used Delorean Gray on our floors which are gray tones from very dark to fairly light cement looking 12x24 tiles. It was quite a bit lighter than it looked on the sample, but worked perfectly with our tiles due to the different muted tones in our master bath. Could have been the water mixture or other... however, it was a lighter gray. I could post photos I just took, but it does look a lot lighter in the photos as I have two larger windows in the bathroom and at this time of day it looks light. Are you doing the tile job yourself or is a, "professional" which I will use the term loosely as some are true professional installers and some not. Sanded vs. non sanded vs. Epoxy.... that is first to figure then the color. Do you have, "The Tile Store" in your area? They have many grout bars you can try with the tile which looks darkest gray on my monitor. However, I suggest you find a true tile store to see their tile samples vs. going off of a label at Home Depot and it's color via the label.
