Oooohhhh! Pretty and very different! Congrats on your choice. It should be beautiful! Hmmmm, I am going to have to think of something special for that backsplash. Were you planning on doing anything above the stove that would be different or keep it the same backsplash as the rest of the kitchen?

Anyway, thanks for all the suggestions...I do want to bring in the green, but didn't want the entire backsplash to be green...maybe green accents..as you can see, there is plenty of green in the counter...

I debated using the granite as the backsplash as many of you have done, but #1 the granite is pricey enough, and #2 I enjoy the challenge to find the perfect backsplash!

I'm wanting to do a glass backsplash of some type, just because I think glass is cool! The Oceanside Tiles are definitely an option...

This has always been one of my favorite granites. In person it is even more stunning! I would go for a BS that does not have a lot of pattern or movement. I'd let the granite shine as the wow factor. I was thinking a crackled creamy subway, but if you want glass, I love Caminnc's suggestion above.

Just saw this picture in tinahollywood's thread "Finished Kitchen." I think it would look great with your beautiful granite. It's Ann Sachs Collection Fog Green beveled.

I would actually use the granite selected for the backsplash. It is beautiful, anything else may look like it is competing. JMHO

This is the other one I tried to imbed. It's not green, it's called clay. I thought it might look really good next to the tile. Kind of a transition in color between the cabinets and amazing granite. I don't know if I'd want to do too much green; but that's me.

I would actually do a very very simple backsplash. I think too much pattern or movement in the backsplash would clash with the granite.
In our kitchen, we have very strong granite, and very detailed moldings, so we are doing a super simple backsplash. A cream-colored crackle-finish tile that is almost exactly the color of our cabinets, with one-by-one handmade insert tiles in a bunch of different muted earthy colors. The insert tiles will be fairly sparsely sprinkled through the tiles. I think something like that would be very nice, maybe with all green inserts, in one of the lighter colored greens in your granite.

Wow. That is really something. Everyone knows I'm not afraid of a lot of color in a kitchen, but I agree with those who advise to keep the backsplash simple and neutral with this one. I'm also thinking toward something that will match the cabinets, maybe with a liner or accents to connect with the stone, but mostly letting it take center stage and keep it.

I used to not be a fan of te granite backsplash. But the more I love with my purty granite, the more I want to see of it (as do others)*. Interesting granites like this should definitely be the star.

*Funny note: Despite our kitchen still being pretty much non-functional, we wound up hosting two family BBQ's this weekend (one Friday night that Hubby pulled together at the last minute for my birthday and one Monday for visiting relatives). All cooking happened off-site or on the BBQ and we had a blast. Funny thing is, everyone kept joking that we needed to create a second counter of some sort so we could display our purty granite better. A granite backsplash would do just that. We are going to install some behind the stove area now and depending on other matters we may install more later.

caminnc...I do love that tile..it doesn't look green though...maybe it's my computer..unless its similar to an olive green? Can you direct me to the manufacturer of this tile?

I think something like this would be nice....maybe in subway pattern, or is that too traditional for the granite?

Also, folks, I do have another question that I was debating starting another thread for but will try and see if I can get a response here....

I have 10 ft ceilings...my cabinets will stop about 2.5 feet from the ceiling. I also have a range hood that has a 2" gap on each end between cabinets (in other words, the range hood will not touch cabinets on each side of it, but will have about 2 inches of space before cabinets start.

My question is I'd like to run the tile behind the hood; however, when people do this they run the tile to the ceiling...I can't nor do I want to because my cabients will stop before the ceiling. Will it look ok to run the tile to the top of the cabinets and hood? Also, how does one attach a range hood to a wall covered in glass tile???

The best example (gorgeous kitchen) to see would be cat_mom's kitchen. I can't seem to get the pictures to come up on photobucket for her kitchen. Below is the link of her finished kitchen.
