Countersinking the screws is always a good idea, but the damage is usually done by the handle banging into adjacent handles, or slamming the hinge against adjacent doors, no? I would recommend not getting an "easy reach" but getting a standard ls instead. My guess is your cabinet line doesn't offer them, or you would have. Show the boys the damage from the showroom, show them how to close it properly, then buy extra touch-up paint or stain?

For what it's worth, my nephews, aged 14 and 9 haven't destroyed anything, but they grew up with the cabinet. Also, my sister uses that cab for adult/cooking bowls cutting boards etc... not food. Maybe you could do the same.

Do you mean like the door to a super Susan cabinet? Our solution has been to put things underneath there that kids are very unlikely to want to get out. Ours holds things like the food processor and attachments, the blender, and a variety of cooking oils.

Realizing that storing kid-unfriendly items may not be adequate prevention, we also trained our child on the proper way to open and close it. Then we rose to a new level of neuroticism and had him practice the approved method. Hmmm. Now that I write that out, I realize it sounds a little Tiger Mom meets Woody Allen. Oh well. Our doors still look good, and we haven't had any collisions yet.

As an added prevention, I bought two extra pulls for that cabinet and the one it can potentially hit, so if damage does occur, we can at some point replace the damaged pulls. In our set-up, it's very unlikely to hit the door itself--the pulls take the brunt of any collision.

I've been thinking about this question since you asked about it yesterday. Our two easy reach doors, one upper, one lower with Super Susan, haven't been a problem for the year they've been installed. We don't have kids at home anymore, so perhaps that makes a difference. The first time people open them, they're a little surprised, but after that, no issues. I have to say that those two corner cabs are so much more usable than our previous corner cabs, I love them!

The cabinets are already installed and I know I will love it once we get used to it. It was the one thing I would not comprise on. I really don't like the diagonal cabinets. Had one for 25 years.

The cabinets came with a touch up kit which we have already used.

Our kids are 16 and 19. I will be instructing them on alot of things with the new kitchen! Like not pretending the sink is a basketball hoop and shooting plastic cups from across the room, lol.

The upper won't hit the other handle just the door. The lower would hit the stove. It seems the damage I've seen is from the handle screws so if these are countersunk we should be ok. Just wondered if there was anything else.

I think the concern was since all the other doors and drawer are soft close everyone,including me, would forget and slam the doors on the two corner cabinets.

Not sure what I will put in the upper as I will have triple the cabinet space I have now. The Lower will be small appliances and odd large shaped items.
