owners of island hoods - pls show me your kitchens
Comments (18)Just for grins - and also because I'm behaving a bit obsessively on this detail (ya think?) - I cruised the FKB slide show seeking out island hoods. I found more than I expected to find, 26 in all and I determined that half of those fell into the traditional design mode, according to my criteria, which may or may not jive with someone else's. I also counted downdrafts for island cooktops - 39. Frankly, I expected to see a greater percentage than that. Don't ask me why, though. I haven't a clue. If you're looking for inspiration like me, here's a quick list (including 2 that posted above): arc1017 billyc busymom2 camargo Diane2566 formosalily Gary64 hiltonc jcthorne jill_77 julier1234 KaCee2002 lnersesian markbr michoumonster Nicole_ pharaoh pjsluna riverrat1 saydiver smooya sue7972 sweeby tobler TommeCA TxRunner Huh, I know I didn't see the kitchen that's on the home page so the latest kitchens might not be in the slide show yet. Comments (16)I love all those ideas! I'm still tweaking what we have. I'm not using these calendars effectively right now but I think it will just take practice. It's still all so new to me. We will doing more work on our house, including adding built-in desks in our school/office space. I will have white boards for each child since we homeschool, as well as cork boards for each child in his/her own desk space. For the family calendar, we will most likely end up using iCal on the family iMac, but I still like this idea. I have the current month and the subsequent 2 months, plus a weekly to-do board. These all have magnets on the back. The current one and the weekly one go on the shelf; the other two are below the shelf on metal strips attached to the wall. The silver board is actually magnetic and push pin. The metal outer layer has pin-sized holes all over it, and underneath is a material that accepts pins. I love it. I purchased all these from storables.com....See MoreShow me your dishsoap dispenser pls!
Comments (5)I use this Superhuman brand hands free automatic dispenser. It also comes in black. I think it is much more sanitary for the kitchen. If you are interested in it, I can give you come maintenance pointers. I used to have a built in pump but did away with it in the new kitchen. A friend recommended it to me so I bought one and tried it out before I had to make the decision of whether to cut a hold in the countertop. Comments (12)Thanks for the email with the link to the question. I probably would not have seen it otherwise. Our kitchen is still functioning as new. Got to thank our amazing Amish cabinet craftsmen - a shout out to Ayr Cabinetry in Indiana and yes they ship all over the country :) The cutting board still works perfectly and it is sooooo useful. When closed, you really can't see it's there at all. Pop it open and pull it out. Here it is pulled all the way out which shows the notch cut into the back. Not sure you need it but it does give you a few more inches of leverage when the board is pulled out and that is always a good thing, no? Here I took out the top drawer so I could get the camera in there. You can see the tracks the board sits in as well as the push mechanism in the back. And I'm embarrassed but I have NO idea why it looks dirty. Hope that answers all your questions. The only thing I would add is too keep the board and tracks clean otherwise the board could stick....See Moreromy718
