I do. Not because I'm worried about chipping my sink, but to cut down on noise... probably accidental breakage? Don't know, since I've always had a sink grid.

Never had one before because I thought it would be annoying. I've been using a flat plastic grid but they discolor and look terrible and food gets caught on the little squares - talk about annoying.

So I broken down and went for it. Hope it doesn't end up becoming a glorified $138 trivet. Allegedly I will have it tomorrow.

I have a stainless one. I was worried about chipping my Shaws 30" because I have very careless kids (10 and 13) that wash almost all the dishes and load and unload the DW. The kids and I like the grid - we can dry dishes on it and items in the sink are closer to them. My DH is on final clean up and doesn't like the grid because food occasionally gets caught in the grid and it takes more time to clean the grid and sink. The grid is still in the sink and I don't think it's going away.

I just got one. I have a Shaws (rohl) 30". Love the ss grid. Now don't have to worry about chipping the sink. Paid only $97 for my rohl ss grid.

I got the stainless one because:

- I was worried about chipping too.
- I was worried about dishes breaking on the bottom, even more.
- I had ones in the past in my old sink that didn't come w/ the sink and the hole was never right over my drain hole so I liked the hole of the grid being in its proper place in this one (for both functional and aesthetic reasons).
- I liked how it raises things a bit higher so you're not reaching down so far into the sink and hurting your back so much.
- I think it just looks cool! ;)

I've had my Whitehaus sink since March. I used the scummy rubber mats until last week when my new sink grid arrived. The one intended for my sink was $117 but I bought one elsewhere for $39 no shipping. The drain hole isn't in the same place as my sink drain hole but it's OK. I can rinse the whole sink bottom now and if I need to get more serious, it's easy to lift out. My theory was if I didn't like it, I'd have a really swell cooling rack for cookies;-) Also, someone pointed out to me - circuspeanut??- that "stuff" falls through the kind with the grid only going one direction. I bought one with cross bars. Nothing much falls through. I'd do it again and maybe even someday buy the one that goes with my sink. For now I'm very happy with the one I have. It fits my sink dimensions perfectly.

This is amazing -- I ordered the grid yesterday afternoon from Home & Stone and it is out for delivery today according to the tracking. That's true service and not only makes me feel better about the price but I can add my recommendation to marthavila's. Very good source.

I have had a white shaw's sink for 2 years, and no grid.

I totally, completely MEANT to get a grid. But I needed too many other things and just never got around to it.

Now? Don't need or want it. Dishes don't break, and if I leave a can in the sink too long, the rust ring goes away by itself after a few days -- I could use Barkeepers Friend if I wanted it gone immediately.

And I like the look of my pretty white sink. Not a grid.

So I think it's optional.

I bought my Franke fireclay apron sink from homeandstone.com and they had the SS grid that matched the sink. You might try them to find one for your sink.

I was just wondering (anyone here know?) if a 30" Shaws fireclay sink's stainless grid could fit in a Miele Optima dishwasher. I hand-washed the grid today which was a bit cumbersome. Of course I can find this out myself, but hey - I'm no where near the sink or the dishwasher at the moment, and it's late at night, and I'm just making a little conversation here! ;)

No grid here. I have broken lots of glass trays and jars in my soapstone sink but nothing like that has happened in my fireclay. And that is the sink where the children literally stack dishes mimicking the game "don't tip the waiter" and place their used glasses haphazardly into the basin. Nary a chip.

Yes, and I love it! Have a Rohl Allia fireclay sink and was concerned about chips and also the extra depth of the bowl. Purchased the made-to-fit Rohl SS grid, and it's been great. No chips, no backaches from bending over an extra-deep sink. Also love that I can dry hand-washed dishes on it.
