Confused about fitting 32' sink within 33' cab...help!

We are planning to install a 33" frameless sink cab (DeWils). I am interested in getting the 32" BLANCO Precis Silgranit undermount Single Bowl. Not sure how to definitively determine if this sink will fit on its own, require modifications to fit, or not fit at all???? Please help me understand:)

BLANCO states that the overall width of the sink is 32" (the edge of the sink) but that the cutout width is 30". See: http://www.homeeverything.com/1/1/25987-cafe-brown-blanco-440147-granite.html

Multiple choice time:

A) this sink will fit in a 33" frameless cab w/o changes

B) this sink will fit in a 33" frameless cab WITH a change (cutout?)

C) this sink will NOT fit in a 33" frameless cab

It should fit in a 33" cabinet---we looked at that sink early on and the Blanco Canada website has the required cabinet size listed as 33". No clue why they don't list cabinet sizes on the U.S. site...

Can't help on the logistics of how to do it, though!

I don't know the sink, but from a strictly adding up the dimensions width minus sides, the answer is no. 33 inch - 3/4 -3/4= 31 1/2 it may be possible with modification, I dunno. I have a D shaped sink in a 24 inch cabinet and I "think" its a 23 inch sink, but my 24 is an IKEA cabinet so its approxamate and they did do a small midification of shaving in certian places.

There are people here that undermount a 33 in sink in a 33 in cabinet. I think the most recent thread about that was several weeks ago, so try searching via google (add site=ths.gardenweb to your search terms) vs the forum search feature. I almost did this. This is what I learned here. -do not cut down the sides to do this in frameless cabinets, pick a different sink -the 33 in would be from edge to edge. You need to make sure the outside bowl wall to outside bowl wall measurement is less than 33 in (cabinet width) - 2xcabinet wall width. -if you ever need to replace the sink, it will be difficult It is done though, and there are people here that have posted about it. I ultimately decided to pick a different sink since I used frameless cabinets. I now have a Franke Orca and love it! It is huge, but only needs a 33 in cabinet (it's maybe 31 inches? Can't recall exactly).

Sink base 36''. You have 3'' smaller than a standard 36'' sink base. The largest that you can comfortably fit into the sink base and still be able to utilize the sink clips to attach it to the counter is a 30'' sink. If you cut into the sides, which support that heavy counter, and use a different sink mounting technique, you may be able to fit a standard 33'' sink into a 33'' base. But, you'll never be able to change it out if you have issues. Not witout dismantling the sink base entirely.

Kim G is right. The Bosch SGE53X55UC and Bosch SGE68X55UC require only a 32-1/8" cutout height but there would be a nearly 2" gap above either appliance to deal with as they are only 32-1/16" tall. You also could exchange the dishwasher for the Whirlpool WDF520PADM or WDF540PADM. While the recommended height of the opening is 34", the rear leveling legs can be removed, reducing the required height to 33.5" according to the Dimension Guides. Both dishwashers are comparatively inexpensive and well-rated by Consumer Reports. At Home Depot.

I have a Ruvati that is several months old. It isn't your model, but is 16 gauge and has a good amount of insulation on the underside. It is very nice quality and not noisy at all. I did not want a single bowl as I wash all my pots and pans, baking sheets, knives, etc. by hand, even though I have the top of the line Bosch DW. I chose a 50/50 split with a low divide, so can wash big pans easily. It also hides the dishes because it is deep. It came with the grids and very nice bowl strainer drains. I ordered mine from Amazon in order to get the size I needed ( ? 30") with the low divide and knew if the quality didn't please I could return. I did get the close to zero radius corners as I prefer that look, but didn't want a true zero because of cleaning corner difficulties. I am quite pleased with the quality and size and I do cook a lot. I am also glad I didn't get a single bowl. I usually have a sink full of soapy water any time I'm cooking and like having the other free to drain pasta, run the disposal, etc. I have a fairly small kitchen and storing a dishpan and pulling one out constantly was not my idea of convenience. I think how you function in a kitchen makes a single bowl or double a personal decision. Good luck with your choice.

1/ The 1" rim around the sink need to rest on mechanical support.
2/ The counter goes on top.
3/ The two get siliconed, but silicone is not the mechanical support.

The bowl of the BLANCO Precis Silgranit is 30" outside dimensions at its maximum size, at the top of the bowl, at the sink rim (the junction of two planes, one vertical, one horizontal). Here is where you need 30" clear space between supports that could be 1/2" or 3/4" or 1"w. The cabinet walls are great supports, but a bit too far apart, so you have to screw a mechanical support like angle iron onto the cabinets walls. E.g. 1/2" by 1/2" angle. You also have to scrape out a 1/4" by 1/4" notch on the top of the cabinet wall. Not a big deal. Not a concern. It's to let a fraction of the sink's 1" rim fit in there.

I'm assuming cabinet walls are 3/4" thickness. There is nothing to say they aren't 1/2' thickness. Only you can say.

B/ You also need support under the other two sides of the sink's 1" rim. This is another subject.

I won't choose an answer, because I don't want to be responsible if I'm wrong.

I have run into the same confusion. I asked the question a while back and got a visual reply from laurie_2008 that helped me understand what is needed to fit a sink in a sink base cabinet and how a modification might work.

I think the key is making sure the size of the bowl of the sink will fit into the cabinet base as the outer edge of the sink would hang on the cabinet edge and be attached from below.

My only question at this point would be how a sink would be replaced if it sits on the edge of the cabinet without taking off the countertop. However, I don't think sinks are replaced often enough to really be a concern.
