Have you seen this tile or something like it?

I have fallen in love with an Erin Adams mosaic sold through Ann Sacks but the pricing for the line starts at $96.25 a sq foot.

Second down on the left - large offset in rain cloud 102, white swirl 3, off white 1 and bright white 2

Has anyone seen anything remotely like it?

wow - that is breaktaking tile. One that comes to mind (although pales in comparison) is this one from Cool Tiles called Ashland Gaia Blends Tile - but it does not have nearly the color and depth of the original.

LOVE it!!!!!!!! Artistic Tile might have soemthing that gives a similar look (not sure how much diff the cost would be) or perhaps Wayne Tile (NJ-based tile stores?). I saw a neat selection of glass tile mosaics at Wayne Tile last winter-spring by AlysEdwards Tile & Stone.

Oh yes, this is a great thread, LOL. Let's see, I made some completely tasteless corn and black bean salsa, the beans just seemed to absorb everything and it tasted like eating paste or cardboard. Anyway, it was a bad idea. My pickles are always soft, except Linda Lou's sweet pickle chunks. And, as Readinglady pointed out, everyone doesn't like the same things. I don't care for dill or sour pickles at all, but Dad loves 'em, so I make them. One batch, every year. The remainder of my cukes become sweet relish and those sweet pickle chunks that I love. My worst canning experiment wa the mincemeat. Yes, the real stuff with beef and "2 pounds of suet". It was mincemeat like Dad remembered all right and every bite would coat your mouth with that lovely layer of tallow. Ewwww. It was awful and I could feel my arteries slamming shut. I've never made a spaghetti sauce that my girls liked as well as they like Prego, but that's them, LOL. I think the roasted red pepper spread needs some hot peppers, it's too bland without them. I made some really good kumquat chutney but can't figure out how the heck to use it all up, it just doesn't "go" with a lot of things. Then there was the dandelion wine..... Annie

Alot of tile are pretty. It doesn't make them right for what you might want to use them for. I went to the link and checked, but didn't see what I was looking for, which was a PEI rating (a rating on the hardness of the glaze). I DID find the following, though: Hydrotect Â Tiles with integrated cleanliness. Hydrotect has a unique effect: cleanliness and freshness come into the house as if by magic. The tile coating, activated by light, relaxes the surface tension of water on the tile to produce an even film and activates oxygen. That produces convincing advantages Â with a longterm guarantee: Lime, dirt and grease cannot settle. Stains are simply undermined and can be removed effortlessly. Bacteria and moulds are decomposed in a natural way. Unpleasant odours are stopped. The coating is burnt into the ceramic surface at high temperatures and is thus practically Indestructible Â for the entire life of a tile. I would talk to your sales person, and see they will sand behind that claim, should you have any problems.

The Cordoba leather loveseat at Grandin Road may be a good size, and comes in several colors. I linked it below. Check the Oxford one also while there, but it's 3" longer than your current one. I got beat to it, but holophane or halophane...the spelling can vary is what you want for those shades in the lower right. The Ebay shop link was actually fairly in-expensive. It's the fixtures that can be a killer. You can really pay a lot for actual vintage, restored holophane shades and fixtures but there are some beauties out there. Just remember if it isn't ribbed inside and out then it isn't real holophane. check out: www.pwvintagelighting.com If we had started planning our remodel some time ago and I knew what I know now about these fixtures I would have started saving a couple of years ago for the two pendants we have. Some of the fixtures at PW Lighting are statement fixtures that you won't find anyplace else (and priced accordingly) although you will find Chinese made reproductions at a fifth of the price, like those at Restoration Hardware which is what I settled for. Needless to say, I am putting away a little each month until a couple of restored holophanes are in my possession. A lot of absolutely lovely vintage restored fixtures and even some with the exact shade shape you are looking for at at PW Vintage Lighting. It looks a little like Miles Modular/Jazz Glass from Artistic Tile.

Oceanside also has a random modular pattern you could do to try to replicate the Sacks tile.

Either one will probably cost about half though. :(

I've seen something similar in marble, but it cost a lot more.

The thing about designer tile is that it's made in small quantities, which is reflected in the price. If it's popular, there will be a knock off that has a whiff of the look, but generally not that little something that makes it so just perfect, for a lower price.

Have you calculated out how much you'll need and how much it'll cost? When I was looking at backsplash alternatives with stratospheric prices (when it looked like my tile would never come) I priced out the actual amount I'd need, I found out it was doable even though the price/sq.ft. sounded crazy.

Also, you can see if your contractor, designer, tile setter friend who is a designer, or anyone you know in the trade, can get you the trade price. That's probably not more than 20% off (possible 10% or less), but ever bit helps.

I responded to this but I don't know where the response went. Miles Modular is really nice. Oceanside looks a bit like it though iridescent. I need 80" in length and 18" in height in one area and I have a corner area that is 48"x 18" and 30" x18" so it's pricey. We originally thought of subway tile and might so a variation on it but the Erin Adams is just sooooo pretty. Thanks!
