Shiloh's Flat Panel Door or Homestead Door style
Comments (2)Thank you lastmango for letting me know why you chose what you chose. I loved the Polar White in the store but the sample door that was old from the kitchen designer was not what I remember seeing as Polar White in the lights I have in my kitchen. I must go back to the local store and bring my floor tiles again that I already bought and see how the whites go with it since I remember that the Polar White looked so nice in the store's lighting. I did go to the Shiloh Website and it seems the Homestead is a pure shaker look with no bead and it looks like the Flat Panel door has one bead inside if I am correct. What color is your trim that the Polar White matched? Thank you!...See MoreDo you caulk flat panel doors on cabinets?
Comments (7)Caulk wil transfer the stress of the expanding panel to the frame of the door and start to force the joint apart. The weakest direction for just about any joint in a frame and panel constructionis tension loading. The next thing you wil be looking to repair is the cracks between the rails nad stiles in the frame. Frame and panel is designed to allow the wide are of the panel to move without forcing the frame apart, and at the same time concealing the movement inside the groove in the frame that copatures the edge of the panel. Not only does MDF move, unlike real wood it moves in both directions in a panel (width and height). Real wood has negligable movement parallel to the grain, but significant movement perpendicular to the grain. I have repaired more panel doors that have split panels from being glued, caulked, or even paint glued into the frames than you can shake a stick at....See MorePictures please? Comments (23)@rkb21: The piece for the dishwasher is a little different than the rest of the toe kick. Our real toe kick is 3/4" x 4", but at the bottom of the dishwasher the black cover is 3" high, and then it sort of tilts back. I happen to have extra molding from the cabinets that was 3/4" x 3", so I had it cut to fit the width, and they had to bore out the back a little where the plastic screw caps are that hold the cover in place, and then we just velcro'd it to the black cover. You can see the seams where it meets the other toe kick, but it's better than seeing black. It seemed to me that a 4" toe kick might interfere with the function of the door, but I don't know that for sure. So far, we have been very happy with the KUDE48....no issues with the side vent causing condensation on the cabinet. @island: Thank you very much....our countertops are called "waterfall". I have a thread which follows my kitchen renovation from the beginning, and there are more pics in there of the countertops....see the link Here is a link that might be useful: Kitchen Renovation...See Moreshow me your fully integrated refrigerator/freezer paneled doors,
Comments (5)We have the Thermador 30" fridge and 30" freezer, also not next to one another, and we did the same panels on both. (The first two pictures are of the fridge, closed & opened; the third is of the freezer.)...See More2LittleFishies
