Anybody?

Not sure if this the same thing, but when I was at either Lowe's or Home Depot, I believe they had those there in what to me were 2 degrees of white. (one was more stark, the other more muted. maybe the muted one is what you are seeking?)

Subway Ceramics has a gorgeous 4"x4" (and other sizes) in White, Bone, and something called Avalon White which matches historical white subway tiles. White and Bone would probably be what you're looking for:
subway ceramics and the colors they offer.

Problem is I don't know what part of the country you're in. Try web searching Laufen Tile or Interceramics Tile. Then once onto their web site you can try to find a dealer near you.
American Olean is another large ceramic distributor.

Johnson Tile makes a line of white and biscuit tiles -- you can get 3 x 6, 4 x 8 and 4 x4. You can get plain or crackle. We used the 3 x 6 biscuit crackle in the powder room and the 4 x8 plain white in the master. The tiles are very flat like the original subway tiles. They are machine made so priced less than hand made, but they have a nice quality which is almost like hand made. There is a nice choice of skirting tile, chair rails and cap tiles. The line is the "Studio" collection within the Johnson Minton Hollins collection. It is a UK company but they have a major distribution warehouse in New Jersey and they are sold through many tile stores. The entire brochure is viewable at the Johnson website.

Thank you everybody for the ideas. Got any ideas what the finish on the top tile is called. It is not a smooth surface, but rather wavy. What could I use for a search term?

I'm in TX if that makes a difference. Lowe's has the white ones like I want, but I asked about other colors and they told me all they have is what is in stock as it is a discontinued tile from American Olean. Might check a couple of other stores to see what they have. The Home Depot I went to didn't have anything like it, but their selection is less than others so maybe check some more there.

I will need to check out the others suggested as well. Only tile store I went to was Dal-tile so far, which also now owns American Olean.

My earlier post didn't appear for some reason...? Anyway, this tile is called "undulated" in the Polaris line made by American Olean (DalTile), which accounts for it's wavy finish. I love it too, and was sad to see them discontinue it. Other pretty tiles in this family are Emser Cape Cod Cristallo tiles and Walker Zanger's Tiburon line.

You can still find some Polaris undulated tile around the builder's supply stores as I'm told there are large supplies of it still out there since it was just discontinued last summer (2007). I hope this helps - this post is a bit old maybe you've all gone away??
