I wonder if it's the Sharp MW drawer, just re-badged to Wolf? People are willing to pay a lot for the Wolf badge. Or is Wolf manufacturing the drawer themselves?

I don't know. It's possible. Just like how Amana makes all the bottom mount freezer drawer refrigerators.

Nonetheless, the Wolf MW has a nice, squarish, modern design to it. It's more flat (no protruding handle).

Just thought I'd put it out there for those wanting a microwave drawer. There will soon be another choice.

If mine should die, I think I'd at least look at the Wolf version. Being flatter might be nice -- but worth how much on something that is already high end?

I sense divine intervention here. I had just emailed my KD that I could not bring myself to purchase the Sharp...bulky handle, ugly front. Can anyone post the Wolf model? Are Sharp and Dacor the only drawer models currently available?

champweiser - have you looked at the Dacor and ruled it out? We went with it over the Sharp (yes, I know Sharp makes them all and it's just a rebranding). It does not have a handle or anything else that protrudes on the front. Despite the fact that I have the Wolf 48"DF and thus would love to have had the option of a Wolf microwave drawer to "match", the Dacor, IMO, is plenty attractive and we get compliments on it all the time.

very cool - have to say it looks very much like my Dacor except that the stainless on the Wolf runs horizontal whereas on the Dacor it runs vertical. Even the keypad looks identical :-)

Viking also makes a drawer microwave without a handle. :)

I can't read the buttons, but they look suspiciously like the Sharp & Dacor buttons.

Re: Dacor MW Drawer. One of the things I do not like about it is that it doesn't have the manual open...it's automatic. And I know my family and friends, they will all try to open it manually instead of using the small Open & Close buttons! And with the warnings that if you open or close it manually you could ruin the automatic mechanism, I decided it would be better to get the manual. It has a soft-open & soft-close so no sloshing. With the Open & Close buttons on the Dacor, you also lose the Soften & Melt buttons...so I went w/Sharp.

[The MW I really wanted was a Dacor built-in (2420), but I had no place for it and I didn't want it on the counter...it + the trim kit cost the same as the Sharp MW Drawer itself!]

buehl....hmmm, interesting, I never knew that I lost the Soften and Melt buttons! I probably would use them if I had them :-) I still manage by putting the power level on 30% but it would be neat to have autosensors for that!

I could understand being concerned about people trying to manually close the Dacor by pushing it in but how would they manually open it? Just curious so I know to look for it....still, it took just one quick warning with my 3 boys + DH and we've had no problems - everyone uses the open/close buttons and we've never had any sloshing or spills, ever. FWIW, the warming drawer feature is one of my favorite features :-)

I didn't look at the Dacor built-in but I did have a KA built-in last house...it had the pull down door (like an oven) but it was a behemoth and, if I remember right, had to have a special cabinet-box built for it which ate up a lot of my island.

MNHockeyMom...Sharp also has the automatic Open/Close...with the handle...go figure! That was the one that was in the showroom (and yes, w/o looking I opened it manually) and the one our KD originally was going to order for us but I told her I wanted the one w/manual open/close.

okay, that makes sense....honestly, the lack of handle was one of the main reasons that I went w/ the Dacor over the Sharp...that handle on the Sharp is like an open but unwelcome invitation to tug!! I think they have a handle-less Sharp now, but that came out after I'd ordered the Dacor. A bit sad that I had to pay hundreds more to get one LESS "feature" :-)

It looks like the Wolf is designed to sit flush with the front of the cabinets, and that could be a good thing. Mine sits out proud (forward) of the cabinets, but it's ifine in my kitchen because the rangetop is next to it. They kind of look like it was meant to be that way, but I really just got lucky.

I have the Sharp with the handle. It was the ONLY micro drawer when I got it. I'm happy with it, and while I was concerned about the handle issue (I taped a do not pull sign to it for the first few days/week), the only problem I had with someone pulling on it was the CG and the granite fabricator. I told my KD she was going to replace it if that caused a problem. It's been fine.

I plan to have many more years with this one, but after we've done the laundry room cabinets (I'm trying to gain a counter for folding and a place for sorting) and our bathroom (just in need of updating -- pitted tub and all), then I can look at new features and a sleeker look. Looks like I should have a number of options.

BTW, I would assume that all the micro drawers are made by Sharp or at least licensed by them since the micro drawer uses a different cooking technology to overcome the no turntable and I believe the design was patented.

OP here. I asked my distributor to email me jpegs. They also said that it is made by Sharp. I like the photo with the drawer UNDER the single oven and warming drawer. Nice arrangement. I also have a spec sheet in pdf if anyone's interested. Just email me.

I too pulled the handle of the Sharp pretty much every time I saw it in a showroom! We went with a built in KA as the Sharps had just come out and I was reluctant to try it out but who knows for the next house...
