Cambria Torquay & Crackle Tile
Comments (24)"Trebruchet, doesn't the shape of the sink dictate the radius of the cutout?" If you reread my post, I said "radius on the sink edge profile", not "radius of the cutout corners." This is a perfect example of when a fabricator does his customer a disservice by not up-selling a larger sink edge profile instead of the usual 1/8" round over. It takes more time and bits and therefore money to do a 1/2" radius which looks about like the one pictured above, but when you drop a pan on a pencil edge, and that's when, not if, it is much more likely to chip than the 1/2". Comments (22)I realize this is a late posting, but just in case in might help anyone, we just finished our kitchen remodel and the backsplash we used with the torquay was a white staggered mosaic opaque glass tile. The tile ended up with a grayish edge after grout was applied (see photo of sheet of the tile). That surprised us but it worked since it complimented the Torquay. I looked at backsplash tiles for a year and a half, including marble subway tiles, but always had trouble trying to find the right shade of white. We're very happy with our results. BTW, those are 20+ year old pickled cabinets that I didn't want to give up! This post was edited by bird2 on Sat, Feb 8, 14 at 8:06...See MoreCambria Newport vs. Torquay
Comments (9)I somehow missed the replies to this thread but here is an update (and I am still as confused as ever). There are several slabs of Torquay in from our distributor. However, the Newport, which I finally settled on and was excited about, won't be in until spring. The plant that distributes the Newport got new machinery, from what we were told and so they are behind. I went to the warehouse which we've been working with and looked at the slabs of Torquay. I just couldn't get excited over them like I had been in the past. I guess I had talked myself out of it and now they are an option again. Additionally, I found a beautiful slab of green granite called Coast Green and I fell in love. It would be a totally different look from what I had in mind so as I said before, I am just as confused as ever. Do any of you have new pictures of Torquay to post? My kitchen is a farmhouse kitchen with a farmhouse sink. The walls are a light seafoam green and our cabinets are white with glass knobs. We also have some beadboard around the island. My plan is do go with a white subway tile backsplash. Any advice or suggestions? Any input on the beautiful green granite verses the Cambria Torquay. Newport is definitely out now. Thanks!!!...See MoreClosest Caesarstone to Cambria Torquay
Comments (6)Is this a custom build? Nothing annoys me more than doing a custom project and having someone tell me I can't use a certain product. When I remodelled my master bath last year I spent a lot of time picking the perfect white (Cambria White Cliff) and my contractor's fabricator was not a Cambria certified fabricator. To keep the job he became a certified fabricator and was able to buy the slabs and make the counters, shower surround and bench. Do you really want to settle for second best? Tell your builder you want a different supplier. It might cost you a bit more money, but you could be looking at the counters you love or hate for the next 20 years ... why settle?...See Morempagmom (SW Ohio)
