Hi Maria-- That sounds to me like a standard modified thinset. Although it COULD be used, I'll tell you right now-- using the 255 would be alot easier, especially for someone DIYing it. It's more expensive, but worth the money.

Bill, thank you for your comments and yes, it was the PEI rating that I couldn't remember. I'm looking for a rectified porcelain tile that mimics real stone in a light cream or golden color - very minimalist in overall apprearance with very low variation for it is going to be pared with Cambrian Black Antique finish countertops. I'd also like to use the porcelain from the floor on the backsplash in large tile (12 by 12 or 18 by 18 format) to put on the backsplash to help maintain the minimal appearance and having a grout line only every 12 or 18 inches. Both the counter and the backsplash would have a matte finish I've looked at the Dal and Crossville website and will try them again to see if one of their products fits our criteria. I know you have mentioned these two companies before. any other suggestions My first reaction on their sites was that their tiles had high variation and were frequently glazed and lacked through body color and were not rectified. I know this is a Bill V question but just wanted to jump in and say that I just recently saw those exact tiles used in a kitchen in one of the au courant kitchen magazines. I especially remember that photo of Spanish tiles in blue & yellow because a friend of mine decided to bring those back on a trip to Spain a few years ago. They were beautiful. I think regardless of whether they are in style, if you love them, go for it. I think they would add a lovely interesting touch.

Normally, it's a no brainer-- split the difference, so that you have a 2" piece, top and bottom. But in this case, that would've ended up putting a sliver at the bottom of the window. If were up to me, I would've started the full tile at the bottom of the window. That would've given you another 1/4", anyway, from looking at the photo. Secondly, where the tile comes out past the cabinet, I'd have used tiles bullnosed on the 6" side, made the sliver that comes out from underneath the cabinet an "L" cut, and then a full piece of bullnose to end into the other window. I'm sorry-- I don't mean to tear your work apart, but you asked. :-) Other than that, it looks good! :-)
