Bronze hardware with white cabinets?

Looking for feedback - our new house has all white, clean looking kitchen cabinetry with brushed nickel hardware. It is too sterile looking for me, and I would prefer a warmer and a more customized look. Our granite countertops and full backsplash are a darker granite with rusty reds and a little smoky blue running through. I would like to replace the kitchen faucet and all the hardware with oil rubbed bronze hardware, which would look good with the granite, but am wondering if it will look good with the sterile white cabinetry. Any thoughts?

I've seen many white kitchens with dark granite and oil rubbed bronze hardware and I think it looks fantastic. Check the FKB; there may be some there.

Another thing you might consider, if your cabinets aren't thermofoil, is glazing them. I happen to like white whites, but a glaze would warm things up, too.

I agree ORB can look great with white cabs.

i have that exact combo and i used amerock "highland ridge" and could not be happier. i, too, did want my hardware to stand out against the espresso, because then thats all you would see and frankly i did not want "see" my hardware. my granite is the star of the show. also, i am not a fan of SS, so that look was out for me from the get go. my frig and DW are paneled. i did use a SS sink,( could not afford my dream sink, copper), but i did use an rubbed bronze faucet and i am happy with the combo. also, love the highland ridge hardware, they "feel" good in my hands and are hefty and solid. we used the rectangle knob and the pulls, love them. they do have a sliver of an edge of copper which i adore, check them out if you can, really nice. Hi Amberley, Thanks for the compliment! My marble is Calacutta Vagli and my cabinets are from Quality Custom Cabinetry. The color was chosen in the shop I ordered it from, but my contractor made so many nicks in the cabs after they were installed that we went through 2 more coats of paint and I am not sure of the color they used. I should ask. They were trying to match the original color. Yes, the hardward is from Top Knobs Tuscany collection-good eye! I have a pallete of cream and grey/blue with copper accents going on in the kitchen. If you look up Stiles at the bottom of the page you will see a thread where you can see some of my pics on photoshop. I will try to get you a close-up of the knobs soon. I have two different color cabinets, four different backsplashes, five different finishes of hardware (9 different styles of knobs and pulls), three different finishes for switchplate covers, honed and polished counters of the same material, a white fireclay sink and a soapstone sink. I think it is looking really really good. Do it wiht confidence and no one will second guess you.

Of course I meant will it look nice with the more traditional look I'm going for or will the hardware create a more modern look :) Most of the kitchens that I have seen in the galleries that have light maple and polished nickel or chrome hardware look more modern to me overall not necessarily because of the hardware. I would like to use cup pulls for the drawers and then maybe something more ornamental for the doors. I think the lighting decision will be the trickiest of all for me, I'm so indecisive!

I have white white cabinets, carrara marble on my perimeter counters and used a burnished brass for the hardware--it's a dark brown, similar to ORB. So far, I love how it looks!

I put ORB handles on my cream cabinets with dark soapstone counters. I like the handles a lot, I think they work. The faucet and lights are chrome and the door hardware is antique bronze. I tried not to get hung up on matching everything, because I am not into "matchy-matchy" and this is an old house. I wasn't trying to make it look like new construction.

I love ORB and have it in my kitchen (but I have maple cabs, not white). I've seen lots of white kitchens with dark hardware and it's a very classic look. But if you're worried about it being too dark then have you thought about copper? It would be lighter than the ORB but still warm things up for you. Just a thought.

Just adding to what everyone else has said... I think the combo of ORB and white is fantastic. There are so many pretty ORB knobs and pulls out there too now! Have fun picking new ones... it's the best part!
