Premier brand range?

Has anyone here heard of this brand, which I believe also goes by Peerless-Premier? I'm looking for a coil stove--I do need electric--and just really dislike the glass/ceran cook tops and don't think that induction works in my situation. I know that I'm banging my head against the wall when it comes to the concept of higher-quality coil stoves, but I came across this modest model which I think has retro charm.

Nobody on the "Appliances" forum had anything to say about the brand--except that a poster named "oasisowner" is also interested in it--so I thought I'd see if you kitchen folk had any comments as to quality. Thanks to all.

Tin can build quality with delusions of grandeur. You can buy a cheap crappy Americana at Home Depot for $300 and at least you won't be wasting the extra $200.

I don't understand why you'd want a coil top though? If you are in an all electric home, look at induction. It's 100 times more functional than the range you're looking at, and only about double in price if you catch Sears in a sale.

I don't know the brand so I can't help there, but just wanted to say I have a 36" cooktop and would never ever downsize. I have only a family of 5 and would love to have more than 5 burners! so I say go for it. Hopefully someone here knows the brand and can give more specific feedback. HTH

If you want reliable, then a basic Hotpoint will fill the bill. Most ranges get less reliable as you move up the technology scale as well as the money scale, but that balanes out to most people with added features. GE does score best in Consumer Reports for reliability for consumer grade ranges. I'v had zero problems with my Cafe, and there are probably plenty of other "silent happy" folks as well. The squeaky wheels get most of the attention. If you can up your budget some, consider Bluestar. It's technologically very simple, and desp[ite the occasional squeaky wheel posting, the majority of owners are very satisfied with it's performance as well as ease of DIYable repair.

I understand not getting induction - we considered it but have someone with a pacemaker in the house and didn't want even the small risk. My mother insists on coil herself. It's all about cooking habits and comfort levels and no one model is the correct one for everyone. I am no expert vis-a-vis quality, but there are some very good design points about the stove you've selected: -- The control panel is in front: yay! no burning yourself when you need to adjust temperature -- The arrangement of the burners does look a tad retro and easy to use (I love the empty space between the burners on my actual vintage stove). -- It has no electronics to break, which is HUGE in terms of durability. -- It's manufactured in the USA, which is important to some folks. Can you hunt around to find others with these attributes, for comparison, or is this pretty much it?
