If it's a slide in, I think that you need to wait till the granite is in till you install the range. My contractor is doing that - installing all of the appliances after everything is in. The cabinet maker and the granite fabricator will need the Kenmore cut out directions/dimensions. You generally have a couple of inches of counter top behind a slide in, so that would be another reason why the granite needs to go in first. This is why I want my contractor to install it. I'm worried the Sears crew will be in too much of a hurry, and they will scratch or mar my granite during install. The legs need to be adjusted so that the range just barely skims over the countertop in the back and on the sides. Therefore, it's important that the cabinets/countertop is very level for a nice tight fit. I hear your husband on the knobs, it was definitely a concession for me. I am fearful now that I'll be the only one able to operate this very "starship" looking range. But, since DD and I are the only ones who cook in my house, we should be fine. But, that is also why I bit the bullet and got the 5 year warranty. Knob controls tend to last - who knows about this digital temp adjustment. One good thing is that it's supposed to make the temps more precise, and goes down to simmer on each burner. Oh well - I hope you enjoy your Profile!

Most SS sinks come in 2 gauges: 18 g and 16 g. The lower the gauge the heavier duty the sink. Nothing wrong with an 18 gauge. I have one in my laundry room. But for the kitchen I would go with a 16 gauge. Then look to see if you want a classic sink with curved sides or a more modern 0 radius sink with 90 degree corners. Top of the line brands are Julien (handmade in Canada) and Franke. Juliens run around $1200 and are excellent and have some semi-custom sizes. I had a big deep one in our apartment and loved it. An 18 gauge sink for $1000 really should have gold inlay and some semi-precious stones on the corners. But fortunately, like faucets, there are many brands good 16 gauge sinks at very reasonable prices.

I think I like the yellow cabinet centered on the wall, and no shelves. that has a nice, open look. that yellow cabinet will be really nice. amazing... a left-handed family! :) did you choose a sink size yet? how are you feeling about the rest of the layout? maybe you'll have to have a kitchen rule that dirty dishes can only go on top of the dishwasher or in the sink... not in any prep area! lascatx pointed out (in the other thread) that then you have two potential prep areas on either side of the range. my kitchen has two prep "spaces" so hopefully dh and i won't be in each other's way. i am going to attempt to have dirty dishes only "allowed" over the dishwasher, too. good in theory, at least! ;) i hope you're feeling good about the layout now.

Schuler and Medallion are the same; Schuler is the name Lowes uses to market Medaillion cabinetry. Medallion might also offer inset cabinetry whereas the line at Lowes does not. I would go with the Medallion cabinets, too. In fact mine are ready, but not yet delivered. I have to removed a load bearing post first. I did exhaustive research and looked at several cabinet companies and in the end I went with Schuler from Lowes. I was quite concerned with the paint finish and I thought they had some of the best paint finishes around for the money. Plain and Fancy doesn't have a California dealer so I did not compare them with Plain and Fancy.
