Remodel, we went thru a similar process of scaling down then trying to fit too much in the existing space. I think you should go with your instincts and stick to the kitchen/eating area plan. While you could squeeze a small sofa and TV into that space, it will be very tight. In the end, you'll have a cramped kitchen and a cramped TV room. Before you finalize your decision, can you put a sofa and TV in that space to see how it feels?

FWIW, I don't think you're nuts or a PIA. Some of us need to think out loud and go round and round before we get where we need to be...not crazy, just different (though I can see how it would drive a more desisive person like my DH spare). Hang in there. Believe it or not, you're making progress and you will get there.

That is how his house was set up prior to me. He had a living room that no one use, the small kitchen, and the "sun room". I posted a pic of the orginal kit. on my last thread. It's not that he doesn't care. He'd just a soon leave the original plan exactly as it was 'cause it was all he knew. He didnt' really cook and has trouble getting his head around the notion of prep and landing space.

If I do go with some furniture back there I would get some outdoorsy/indoor small scale something... comfy. It's a 16Lx10W space. He felt that in such a small house it's a decent enough sized space that we should be able to make it more useable and not have what he calls all that wasted space with just the table. He doens't even see the point of the overhang but I'm absolutely not going to budge on that one.,,, or prep/baking space.

And you 100% right... I think aloud all the time. It's the only way I can do things... talk out all the contingencies. He said to me tonight, "the people on the forum must be going crazy from you by now". When I told him that there are many who post numerous threads over a couple months on handles... he just grabbed his head, shook it, and rambled off to bed mumbling. Tee-hee-- kinda funny.

Didn't you say he has a shop and a room of his own? Now your kitchen is shrinking and your desk disappeared?

Are you duplicating living space at the expense of the kitchen/eating area? Your eating area is much less nice this way, with views, mostly of the kitchen cabinets. Your table area is pretty tight, especially since there should be a walkway there somewhere.

I hate to have you put your baking counter in the spot you decided last thread was not that good.

I'd really like to move the peninsula down a foot so you can get the dishwasher next to the sink, but that will only make the table area smaller. Where are your dishes going in this plan? If it's in the 24" drawers near the dw, you will have competition with the dw and the drawers trying to be open at once for putting things away.

If the grid squares are accurate, you now have only 36" between the fridge and peninsula and between the oven and the other cabinets. I'm not sure that's enough. You thought maybe it was tight in front of the fridge last time, and you had 4 ft.

I'm not on the computer with the drafting software, so I can't do a 3d of this now. If, by the time I get a chance tomorrow, you still want a 3D of this plan, I'll try it. Sorry to be Negative Nelly, but this seems pretty cramped. I'm afraid you won't be happy in this as your long-term kitchen for your well-earned retirement years.

I woke up early (for me) again because I couldnt' sleep. Please don't bother to do this layout. I'm beginning to feel that all he wants is his house the way it was. What I'm not feeling is his commitment to me being happy there though he strongly states he does. The other layout has a 10x16 eating area. The table is a 42" round. If he wants some space to sit over there he can sit at the table or there may be space for a small comfy chair. I can't give anymore. Otherwise... well... we'll see how it pans out. This kinda makes me feel sad.
