What brand finish works/doesn't work well on old oak floors
Comments (7)We had our 85-year-old floors professionally sanded and finished with Glitsa. It's what our flooring guy called a "Swedish finish" and it was stiiiiiinkay! But it's beautiful, our floors look brand new. The problem is that I'm sure that the guys who applied it were wearing respirators while they spread it; the fumes 24 hours later when I came in to open the windows were awful, and we could smell it when the house had been closed up for at least a month. Comments (3)We refinished the red oak floors in our last house. I believe it was Old American or something along that name. Let me know if you want me to get the exact name, I think I still have it out there somewhere if I look hard enough. I'd ask to do the same as we didn't get with the color I was originally set on!...See MoreWhich wall colour would go well with high-gloss oak flooring?
Comments (3)Anything you like. Without details or photos we are taking a stab in the dark. High-gloss oak can be any colour from off-white to black. I'm a lover of Scandinavian Modern so I like white walls with plenty of colours in my soft furniture (like a purple painting + teal area rugs + high-gloss red cabinets). White is always a good choice (primer white is even better) until you figure out YOUR design preferences....See MoreWhat flooring works with oak cabinets and Copper Mist countertops?
Comments (2)I have to admit that we hadn't really considered anything but wood look. The kitchen is small and that's basically all of the cabinetry in the photos. Roughly 11' x 11' if you don't include the space in front of the fridge and the laundry area. I thought stone look would clash but I see your point....See Moresnowyshasta
