Personally, I would want to have the drain on the end. Both for working in the sink & to make better use of the storage space under the sink. But I don't have or want a garbage disposal. If a GD is on your list, be sure to confirm that there will be room for it underneath the sink if you choose the end drain sink.

BTW, would you mind sharing where you have found end drain model farm sinks?

I have a 36" single bowl farm sink with drain hole in center. Boy, would it be nice to have the hole at one end so I could spray everything down to one spot rather than having to chase the debris round and round and round again with the sprayer to get it all to go down the drain. It's quite annoying. Also, we recently installed a disposal and it eats up all the space under the sink. Would've been better off to the side.

If you have the choice now, go for the drain at the end.

The center hole worked fine when I had smaller single bowl sinks in the past, but with the huge 36" size, it just doesn't. So it also may depend on the size of your farm sink.

Im wondering if I will go blind before I finish this kitchen plan! Here's my list of 30 inch apron front end drain sinks. I am only looking for fireclay so I didn't include any stainless sites. They're out there, I just didn't save them. Always check eBay if you are shopping on line. I found the same sink cheaper from Home & Stone at eBay.

I have a 36" Shaw's with the drain at the end, and it works really well. I keep a dishpan in one end, so the other end is always open and free to sweep things down the drain. Having such a big sink with a drain in the middle would be very tough to use, I think.

Mine is a 30" Shaw's with drain at the end (left side). Couldn't tell you if I liked it or not as it's sitting in the box on my dining room floor...I go in and look at it every now and then. Getting ready to start building next month!!! Wish I could help you...glad to know others like it!!!

36" Shaws with drain at end. the Shaws, being old style, are a little flat bottomed. end drain makes cleaning much easier. also, farmhouse sinks tend to be narrower than conventional ones, making a center drain intrusive.

The best-thought-out kitchen sinks I've ever across are made by Rachiele. Most of their output is single-basin sinks with the drain hole in the rear corner, which makes sense in an incredible number of ways. I wrote a blog on it which I titled "Sink Sense," because these people make all kinds of sense. It's too long to copy here, but you can link to it at the bottom of this, if you're interested. But one of the things I did want to point out is that having the drain at the rear makes it possible to install drawers in the front of the sink cabinet, thereby making much better use of that space than the normal crammed in cleaning supplies. I'm still in the process of gathering information for my own kitchen remodeling, but I have to think it will be much better simply because of all the information I have been able to get off the Internet and places like this!

That was a below the belt!! Ah.........if only......but I can't. Have that sink. The one I could wash the car in. Oh, man! Would that be great or what! I'm downgrading myself to a Barclay. Money. It goes so easily with hobbies like mine. But when all is said and done I will have a big sink and usable cupboards and some pretties, too, so it's all going to be good.

36" Shaw's with the drain at the end. I've seen drains even closer to the end wall than Shaw's. Do you think the Shaw's with the drain nearly a foot into the sink floor is good? Others I've seen have the drain even closer to the side wall. Otherwise Shaw's has the fluted front that I want but the drain placement is stopping me from ordering.
