Re-centering Pendant Lighting
Comments (6)You could fish a new run and put the new boxes where you want them. Then you either rip out the old cable or abandon it in place, and patch the old ceiling holes. A shortcut I've seen used in years past is to put covers on some of the boxes and paint them, and then put a track over the row of covers to more or less hide them. Maybe you could find pendants that fit a track? (I don't know for sure, as I don't do that kind of lighting.) Or you could just decide that having the lights a foot off center is something you'd get used to after a few weeks. That's what I'd probably do. ;-)...See MoreOff center DR pendant light - What to do?
Comments (26)Thank you all so much for your thoughts. I do need to keep the sideboard where it is. However, I forgot to mention that I will be painting it the same colour as the wall, and will be back painting the glass in the doors to hided the stuff inside. The room will look less cramped and busy. I tried moving the table to be centered under the light, and taking away the end chairs to do so. It looks quite crammed down at one end of the area when I do that. So I don't think I will do that. In reading your comments, I am reminded that I need to keep access to the current location (per my original electrician). So I will need to cover with an electrical plate, and not patch it to cover over. I think I will pay to have it moved in order to keep the simple, clean minimalist lines of the light fixture....See Morecentering pendant lights on a wide kitchen island.

Comments (12)IMO the space is very crowded and not a good work space . I don't even think sinks need to be at windows since we spend so little time at sinks if we use out DWs properly and to place a sink to look out at the great room really makes no sense . If the stools are in use there is no way to access the stuff behing them all the walkways are too small . Are you an actual KD or just an ID Kitchen design begins with function and clients need to be guided by that function . Often clients need to be told when something they want will just not work.IMo first fix the function then worry about the pendants ....See Morehopee1983
