Seagull LED lights 2700 or 3000 k temp???

I have to decide tonight!!!

They showed me 2700 and 3000 although the 2700 was actually halogen but they said it would be the same temperature. Ã¯Â¿Â½I preferred the warmth of the 2700 but the salesman said 3000 is better for task lighting in kitchen.

Thoughts?

He also said you can do 2700 in the glass uppers and do 3000 for task UCL but to me that wouldn't seem to work well together.

If we do LED in the recessed lights should that temperature match as well?

We are doing light yellow lower cabs with creamy white upper cabs and am trying to see what will work best. Ã¯Â¿Â½White marble countertops.

Those of u with LED what temp do u prefer?

Here's a shot of our kitchen.

The recessed cans are MR16 50W Halogen.
They have a color temperature of about 3000 degrees.
The undercab lights are LED and have a color temp of about 6500 degrees which is why they appear to be much more blue.
Probably too blue for most.
We like the look of the higher color temp with our cabs, backsplash and countertop.
It also feels like the light is much brighter.
Just as a point of reference, incandescent lamps have a color temp of about 2600K.
Halogen is about 3000K
The difference of a few hundred degrees of color temp won't be all that noticable unless the lamps are next to each other.
I would, though, consider what effect the 2700K lamps will have on your white marble countertops.

I have 2700 LED's throughout my home. I prefer the warmer color but if I had the 3000 not sure how much I would notice the difference.
HD has good pricing on Ecosmart LED's that are made by Cree. When I looked at Cree lights at a lighting store they were more than twice the price.

I can do Amazon, just scared they won't work and I'll be stuck with lights I hate because they are too bright, or something. Maybe I'll try these. 3000 K, non dimmable, easy to return if they don't work. The other option is dimmable but brighter 11.5 watts, and my fixtures need 3 each, so I don't think I need this much light, then I'd have to buy a dimmer switch. My upgrade is costing more and more! Sigh, or they just have LED fixtures at Costco for $40, maybe I should have done that! They seemed to have a delay for starting for some reason. Here is a link that might be useful: costco 9.5 W LED

Something to keep in mind is the color temperature of the natural light your kitchen gets. If its north or east facing then the light coming in will be cooler, so a slightly cooler bulb will look better. Conversely, if it's south or west facing then the natural light will be warmer and a warmer bulb will tend to look better. That's a big factor in why paint reads differently in different rooms. Also, any bulb you get should have a color rendering index rating of at least 90 for the best color reading. No bulb will give perfect color rendering, but the higher the rating the more accurately colors in the room will be depicted. In my cans I went with 2700 because I have warm, western exposure. I used warm bulbs in my pendants too since they can be seen from the living room and dining room where I also used warmer bulbs and it would have looked odd and very apparently blue in comparison if I went with a cooler bulb. eta: If your kitchen cabs or walls are painted cool colors, the same principle applies. Cool toned paints can read best with cool light, whereas warmer light can make them appear too yellow (as in Suzy's pic above), and vice versa. Basically it all depends on your specific kitchen and there's no one size fits all answer.

Technology being what it is, someday people will say "remember the days when you had to decide in advance what color temp you wanted your light." I just bought remote controlled color-tunable/dimmable LEDs for my living room. I had daylight LEDs in there before and loved how the room looked with them but found I was having trouble getting to sleep--too much blue wavelengths late at night. Anyway, I ordered 2 lamps with the dimming and color change circuitry in the lamp (the fixture is not on a dimmer) with the necessary remote control and have found they are working pretty well. I don't know if I would necessarily recommend this brand (iThird) based on subtle performance issues, but the technology is working for me. High K in the morning and early in the evening; lower K later in the evening to help me transition to bedtime. I don't know if anything similar is available in undercabinet and recessed lights, although I saw a presentation at work about strip LEDs for the commercial market that was actually what sent me looking for the tech for my living room.

Brightness is lumens, color temperature is Kelvin, they are not the same. 2700 Kelvin is the color of the old tungsten filament bulbs, the light is towards the red end of the spectrum. 3000K is what I go with for interior residential lighting, maybe 3500K as a maximum. Skin looks more 'normal' with some red in the light. Workshops, garages, etc. can be 4000K or 5000K and are farther towards the blue end of the spectrum. https://retrofitcompanies.com/led-lighting-understanding-color-temperature/ For the amount of light needed, bathrooms are recommended to have 70-80 foot-candles of illumination. What I mean is that 2700K lights are somewhat yellow when compared to 6500K light which are very blue.
If your countertops are dark, like mine, it doesn't make too much of a difference.
But your countertops are white which will make the color temp more noticeable.
I'm glad the cab thing worked out.

Fishies- the 2700 look very similar to traditional lights. I wanted 2700 but DH said light should be white and not yellow.
So we have 3000 led ights for uc and cans but traditional decorative lights.
All are on dimmers.
If you have any cans in your current kitchen, might want to plop in 2700 and 3000 to see the look.
3000 take some getting used to but liking them.
I think I would definitely go with the 3000 for uc but since you like yellow hard to say for the rest of the kitchen

Maybe being we have a lot of yellow in the kitchen the 2700 lights would be overkill. Perhaps the 3000 would balance that out and make our contrasting whites (upper cabs and countertop) look better.
