We bought some and they only had 2 the right height for our island. They had the same chair in a taller version, so we also bought 2 of those. The 2 taller ones we kept that way for a while since the kiddos were small and it brought them to the right height. Then when they got bigger we cut the 2 taller one's legs down to match the shorter 2. Hope that helps!

We have the turner stool from crate and barrel. It's adjustable. I would look at adjustable option that go from 24-30".

Rafor, Thanks for posting. I had suggested cutting a 30" down to 26" but DH is concerned. 1st bacause many of the legs are curved (what will that do to the design or the support) and how to handle the bottom of the legs.

If you have any details or photos I would appreciate them.

pps7, I do like your stools and your kitchen! I just looked at crate and barrel (had not checked there before) but right now they are too pricey for me. I need 4 or 5 stools so it adds up.

I've done a great deal of research on counter stools as need that height also. Go to counterstoolstore.com and look at the Holsag Bulldog Backless Bar Stool on page 1 which only costs $29 more than the one you are considering. My research shows me that Holsag gives you the best quality bar stool for your money. Reviews for their stools are always 5 stars because they hold up great. Their stools have a quality finish, motise and tenon construction, and are made on this continent. You can custom specify seat height, type of foot rest, finish, and seat material. You will probably need to spend even more if you want a swivel that will hold up long term. And no, I have no connection with this company. That website appears to sell quality products. I would discuss my needs with one of their representatives.

The price is wonderful. Made or at least assembled in the US. Parts are available if ever needed. Can pick from lots of colors.

DH is concerned about too much chrome.

Note the brushed steel post. Have SS range hood not in pics. Plan on have some vintage 'stuff' out.

I think the regal would look great and, quite frankly, with those gorgeous countertops, no one's going to notice the chrome! I actually think it would look better than adding another wood tone (since it probably wouldn't be the exact same cherry color) or black. And, you could change the finish of chrome if you decide it's too much with a coat or two of paint.

Use the search term "counter height stool" and you'll find hundreds of choices. For example, the "O" showed 858 results. I went through this in the early 90's before I had web access and it was challenging to find counter height.

hmmmm I was a little afraid that the stools were to commerical looking or maybe too old fashioned. But I guess everything "old fashioned" is now vintage!

The stools seem like they would last a long time and the seats appear better than others.

Anyone else want to chime in? I just might be able to convince DH!

We have a counter-height island and we use standard counter-height stools (24") bought at Target. So maybe 24" would work for you too. Then your options are many, as clairebuoyant pointed out. Here is a set of 2 from World Market that might work:

These are also very cool. The seat could be stained to match your cabinets, or painted black.

Twist Swivel Stool

Most "counter height stools" are 24" which is too short for us. We tried a box on a step stool that came to 24" and we all felt like little kids. Our island is 37.5" high. I tried one that was 29.5" but it was just a little to high.

I was hoping to have round and padded. I will sit at the island alot and want to be comfortable. If I get one without a pad I would have to add one. Haven't had much luck finding reasonably priced thick pads. Would a pad work on a swivel?

I like that one posted from overstock but I checked and its 24". I will check world market.
