OT - Grinch stole Christmas - Ice & Rockettes

If anyone is around the Nashville area....they have the most incredible ice scuplture set up of the Grinch Stole Christmas!! It has ice slides for the kids. The most beautiful nativity scene - all made of ice. It is cold...brrrrr - like 9 degrees in there!! They do give you parkas to wear but even with gloves & socks, my feet and hands were cold.

But, beware.....they have a gift shop at the end!! My DS - 8 did pick out the prettiest crystal look (plastic) nutcrackers. I was suprised he chose something so sophisticated. Of course, I had to get a set of 3.

We also went to see the Radio City Rockettes. I think today is the last day for all of this but we will go back next year. It was a fun trip. The kids enjoyed the show also - ages 5-8.

Just wanted to share something that is family appropriate for little ones.

I'm not familiar with the ice sculpture you mentioned, but two years ago we saw the Rockettes Christmas program in Nashville & it was fantastic. Did they have the live nativity with animals? Everyone in our group enjoyed it--really worth the admission cost.

Yes, Hilltop!! The live nativity scene at the Rockettes was wonderful. It was very touching & I think it helped our kids further understand the real meaning of Christmas (not just the toys.)

It was a very enjoyable trip for grown-ups and children alike.

I'm going to take a pass on this swap...I am still trying to get over the Thanksgiving that was supposed to be elsewhere....but ended up here anyways....and now onto Christmas LOL....and if that wasnt bad enough, someone decided to trash half of my outside Christmas ornaments tonight(some people are just sick, they tore up my elderly neighbors display as well!)...I almost lost the little bit of Christmas spirit I had, but I refuse to let some idiot spoil it for me AND I am determined to get into the full spirit just to spite them LOL! So if I don't talk to you all again before the season ends(I am sure I will)... I hope you all have a Happy Hanukkah and/or a Merry Christmas Donna

I loved Chicken Run, and realized I'd missed many good lines the first time, when we watched it again. The line I laughed hardest and loudest was 'Captain, we've got a cling-on, the engines can't take much more'. Gods must be Crazy is wonderful and still stands up over time - I showed it to my DH a few years back. The sequel is a disappointment btw I love silent movies, btw. Some of my fav include Sunrise, Metropolis (for the 'a head of its time' design, not so much for the acting), The General, The Wind and Greed. Also love some original silents of later popular movies: Wizard of Oz and Oliver Twist are very interesting, and Scarlet Letter is probably the best version I've ever seen. I have a huge collection of these movies and often find myself drawn to the time and place, and the acting of those days.

Melinda, so sorry your not feeling well. I know you must sometimes feel like it will never end, but you have so much faith and such a good attitude about it all. I would not worry about the bra at all. I'm sure no one will even know. I'm glad you had fun today and enjoyed the swap.

We were just at Opryland Hotel last night, and sadly some of the Christmas decorations, etc, were already gone. But, the wonderful outdoor nativity, the outdoor lights in front of the hotel, and some displays such as the poinsettia trees inside were still there. It's definitely always worth a visit (any time of year).

My sister and her DH take their family each year to the Rockettes and also Ice (usually the next weekend after Thanksgiving), and they really enjoy it.
