I need to find an umbrella can!

Hi guys, I don't post in this forum much but I thought you guys might be able to help me find something. MIL wants an umbrella can and nice umbrellas to keep by her back door. Is it called something other than and an umbrella can? Google finds nothing :) Any ideas of where I could find such a thing?

You should be able to find them if you search for "umbrella holder" or "umbrella stand". Good luck!

Oh, yeah, umbrella stand seems to refer to patio items...I will try holder. Thanks!

Anybody on here have grape arbors? I don't know about elsewhere, but the wild vines are also taking a big hit, and not just the Japanese beetles...there is also a smallish tan beetle with maybe a very slight pattern around the thorax-almost like a bean leaf beetle but there is no characteristic triangle behind the head-- really chomping down on the leaves as well. Not sure what that one is but I only see it on the grapes so far.

I'm a huge Tobacco Road fan and I used it in my kitchen/hearth room. In the other areas, living room, dining room, entry I used a color that is one down from it on the color strip called Plantation Beige. It's a little crisper and brighter and good in areas that don't receive as much natural light. Not sure if it's what you're looking for or not, so here's a pic of my entry in Plantation Beige for reference. It's a Duron color too but I'm sure SW can mix it. For comparison, Tobacco Road is the color painted across the top of this paint brocure and Plantation Beige is the color on the bottom right. Good luck in your choices!

Can I store umbrella palm roots like bulbs?

It's not a palm but is a sedge, more closely related to grasses and bromeliads. I've found that when they dry out the foliage dies off and the tubers go dormant until the rains come again. Have never deliberately dried them off but I'd expect it could be done. You need to keep in mind though that dormant tubers are not completely inactive. Drying them out too much could completely desiccate and kill them. Dry soil that they go dormant in isn't absolutely dry but still has some degree of moisture in it. So it's probably better to store them in relatively dry soil.

Try a search on eBay for "umbrella holder" or "umbrella stand." Some patio items came up but also some others that you might like.

I just ordered one from overstock.com for like $25 - it's Oriental design and cute little feet. I'll know more when it's delivered tomorrow.

I bought a wonderful, elegant one at a local nursery here; a fancy nursery that has a plant-oriented gift shop inside. Looks like oil-rubbed bronze. Just a thought as to where else you might shop.

"umbrella holder" refers to several different things, including what you mean.

What material do you want it made of? Ceramic is easy to find. The bronze-look one I bought is metal.

If you find an antique one on eBay you will find something beautiful, your money in it will appreciate, and you won't be supporting sweat shops. I've seen some stunning ones there. :-)

For several hundred to over a thousand, there's plenty of Italian majolica and other ceramic. The import stores have always had knock-offs of that.

I also saw copper, wood. Just about anything you want.

Google "umbrella holder." Have fun looking!

This is one of the more original ideas I've heard of as a gift a lot of people might like. Some might want golf umbrellas in it. Some might want sun parasols. Some might want walking sticks instead. Baseball bats?
