Hi JB1176, First off I think that granite would go great with what you describe as your cab. Lovely. Kevin is the granite guru and can be far more helpful than I am on colors, names and types of granite. I just happen to be a picture guru on Gardenweb. I know Kevin can help with specific names and if you let him know via e-mail (if you prefer privacy) he can give you names of people in the industry in your part of the country. He is truly kind and helpful. I know that some granites have one name in one part of the country and a slight variation to the name in another part of the country. Is it possible for you to take a screwdriver and take your cabinet door off? That way you can bring it with you to a stone yard. I did this. I used my old cabinets too. Bring a camera and even a bright flashlight to the stone yard. That way you can photo the slab with bright light and without to see how it would look with your cabinet. Later post your pictures of the various slabs and ask the folks on GW. You will be amazed at the help on our site. Meanwhile there is this fun site that shows cabinet colors and granite colors together. Maybe it can help you. I do not know Gabastone. I think I've figured out that the red tile is your floor? And the gray stone is a SS? If so, I'm a little confused... you said those were things you've ordered. Are you using SS somewhere, or is that just what you would use if you could? It's beautiful; I love any SS but didn't use it for the same reason. I have heard here that leathered engineered quartz is difficult to maintain. Leathered granite, OTOH... For a long time I really thought we'd be going with quartz, but once I started looking at some of the granites, I knew that's what would work best for us. By that time I had also decided that I didn't like the polished look and wanted honed or leathered or whatever. We ended up with Impala Black leathered, which was about the same as the quote we got for Hanstone. Silestone was more, and Cambria probably would have been even more. It doesn't have any cream, just dark gray overall effect, probably in the same color family as a gray SS or JM, though I never saw that in person. If you take away the cream color of your 1st Cambria pic, that's about what you would have. It has been mistaken for SS in a photo. Overall it has been a breeze to keep looking nice (about two months). We did crack it this weekend by running the crock pot directly on it (fabricator didn't give us any hints about what to do and not to do, but they will fix it and bring us some trivets to put the crock pot on in the future). Otherwise, it seems pretty hardy, and definitely does not show stains from those things you listed. Not sure if that helps or if you are looking for suggestions of stones with some cream along with gray, but from what you said, it might fit.

How much natural light do you have in the room? My mother has fruitwood stained trim in her house...it's pretty. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it has (for lack of a better term) an orangish cast to the color. If you want to draw out that color, many granites come to mind that have that tone but they do have movement to them...Revelation, Gold and Silver, Golden Beaches, Geriba Gold come to mind. Do you like granites with movement? I'm not sure of the price points of these grantites. Your best bet is to pour over the many granite sites on the internet to get an idea of the style of granite you want...movement, quiet, etc. and see what you're drawn to. Be careful of granites with too much darkness to them if you have limited light in your space.
